When profiling an orchestration i am receiving an exception (see attach).

Has anyone any idea?

Hi

I am using BizTalk Orchestration profiler for BizTalk 2004, but i receive an error "Error Generating Report":

Mostly I think this is relevant for the database settings - if I'm constantly pointing at another machine why should I have to type it over and over again?

Hello,

Very nice tool but unfortunately the reports generated on my system are totally empty .

The reports contains the number of orchestration's instances but no data about the shapes nor durations nor exceptions.

I've checked that everything is setup correctly on my BizTalk box (i.e. tracking) and everything seems to be ok. For example, I can use the orchestration debugger to see the orchestration.

I've runned a SQL Server profiler to track the queries send by the tool and mentionned that the queries returns no data because the table dta_CallChain is empty for the service I want to profile.

Any help would be appreciated.

What would be very helpfull is to have a full detail of all code (including pipelines, pipelinecomponents, .Net referenced assemblies, ...) in BizTalk that ran succesfully or not ...
Are there future plans on this ?

Yes, I've noticed that there's a delay between running an orchestration and being able to get that test profiled in a report.

I'm assuming that there's some service that moves information into the database where the profiler can then generate a report on it, would this be correct?

Is there some way I can find out the amount of time till I can generate a report on any particular test run, or trigger the ability to do so?

Fantastic tool, that's for sure!

CREATED ISSUE: Cant handle the path to htmlhelp not being in the config file

The BizTalk Documenter can handle the path to htmlhelp not being in the config file by assuming the most common installation path. The orchestration profile does not do this as the code is commented out. Would be great if could be the same in the next version to allow it to be used from Msbuild. At the moment i would have to edit msbuild.exe.config.

The code snippet in Documenter is:
Microsoft.Sdc.Publishers.CompiledHelp\HelpFileWriter.cs (line: 184)

In profiler it is:
Microsoft.Services.Tools.BizTalkOrchestrationProfiler.Core\HelpFileWriter.cs (Line: 180)

CREATED ISSUE: Overall coverage figure doesnt add up

Ive seen a few occasions where I have run the profiler and it looks as though every single shape has been hit and executed successfully and all routes through the orchestration have been executed.

Each shape shows on the orchestration view as 100% yet the overall coverage figure is not 100%.

I have seen instances where it is 94%, between 60 and 80%.

The report is still useful in that it seems to acccurately show you the routes which have been passed, but the overall figure means I cant really publish the information to my project.

Would appreciate confirmation if this is a known issue or if I have done something incorrectly.

Please clue me in on how to use the time portion of the dates in profiler. I'm trying to get a very specific point in time (ie. 8:15 am)...I put in 18/Dec/2007 08:00:00 (start) and 18/Dec/2007 09:00:00 looking for orchestrations that ran at 8:15 am, but the profiler does not find them. If I put the end date as the 19th, it finds them, but I get a whole lot more than I want...I need to be very specific. Thanks.

Er, excuse my ignorance but nowhere can I find any help on how exactly to get this thing working... ie what information is it running off? I ran BizUnit over an orchestration for a while then ran the profiler to (supposedly) pick up those test runs. The CHM it produces seems to contain very little information of use whatsoever.

Perhaps adding some information somewhere would help. (Unless I'm doing something silly and have missed the point completely)..

Just installed Orchestration Profiler on my desktop machine (XP SP2). Trying to profile an orchestration on a remote server (2003 Server SP1).
Get error message UNABLE TO LOAD IMAGE FOR ORCHESTRATION when I double-click any of the listed orchs.
Get same error message when I generate a report - although the Coverage Summary part of the report looks OK.
Any advice would be appreciated...

The dateime format returned from the DateTimePicker control has to match the format of the database which is the english datetime format. In order to be able to create reports. Either the local setting on the client has to be changed to english in order to be able to create reports or change it with:

One fix would be to change the CurrentCulture of the Thread making the app run with en-US culture. This would return correct datetime format:

System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("en-US");
tag.GetCoverageInfo(this.txtDtaServer.Text, this.txtDtaDatabase.Text, this.dtpFrom.Value, this.dtpTo.Value);

Also, the DisplayOrchestration method does not show the exception info upon errors.
