Created Issue: Sign In Issue [10812]

Hi,

I have downloaded and successfully configured DinnerNow 3.1 on my PC running Vista Home Premium. Unfortunately I can't seem to sign in using the microsoft personal card process? Once I click the "Change Username" button I get re-directed to the home page without a sign out option - as if I never managed to sign in? When I attempt to sign in again using the card that I created the same happens again?

Please help.

Is this forum the only guidance on troubleshooting this application?

This application seems extremely fragile and it is difficult to track down problems as they occur seemingly without cause.

The installation prompted me to install SQL Express 2008 SP1, but even after I did so, the dependency checker said I hadn't. I disabled the dependency checker and it configured without any errors.

While the app seemed to be working for a short while, a subsequent visit to the home page left me unable to connect to the database suddenly. Connection strings and data-related objects are everywhere and it's extremely difficult to trace a path through the system. The first encountered symptom was the app no longer populating the "Food type" and "Menu" drop-downs on the home page. Clicking the Find button shows two consecutive dialogs: 1) "Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes" (thanks for the definition of a guid - that's helpful) 2) "The search has failed."

Additionally, the Kiosk application crashes on startup about 50% of the time without displaying an error.

Hi, I'm a relative newbee so I apologize in advance if this is an old issue.
When I try to open the Dinnernow application via the desktop icon for "DinnerNow Web", i get an error message (inside the braces{}):

Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.

Compiler Error Message: CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\dinnernow\5accd42f\c25adb5f\App_Web_home.master.cdcab7d2.twq0nurk.dll' -- 'Access is denied. '

Can anyone shed some light on this, i.e. did I miss something during the install process, or something else?

After uninstalling DinnerNow, and re-installing it, the error message now reads:

So the file name had changed. I looked in that folder and indeed, there are no dll files there.

So the question now is, where in the installation process do the needed dll's get created?
Or perhaps, what am I missing?

The pre-installation checklist is all good but at the time of install I get the error messages while building the solution.

i have the .net 3.5 installed so the assembly exists.

You can fix this by going into your IIS and checking the web management box - or making sure it's checked. I had the same errors - updated that in my Windows Components under IIS and it worked fine.

That fix doesn't work with Vista. The map control that link refers to is non-existant any more. If your Kiosk app doesn't display the map, you have to open the project (.sln) file for the Kiosk app and in the VEMap.htm file change the old link for the map control from "http://dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/v4/mapcontrol.js" to "http://ecn.dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=6.2". This way you get a working map. I'm having problems with the gadgets, I can't get the gadget to display the map, but I think I'll get around it soon enough. I haven't tried versions 3.0 and 3.1 yet, maybe these things are fixed in the newer versions.

in order to get database access for the DinnerNow application run off a sqlexpress 2008 database.

Login failed for user ‘NT AUTHORITY\IUSR.

I finally succeeded in resolving this issue on my second day with uncounted changes that I hope I can undo for fear of opening my machine to some kind of attack. I’m not an expert at setting up SQL Express or IIS7 and I was hoping I would not have to be just to start learning how to write ASP.NET based web applications. To my best understanding, the behavior of SQL Express when installed with VS2008 is different than previous versions. Prior versions inherit users from the windows environment, now you will need to manually enable user privileges (this is to improve security) in SQL Express using ”Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express,” a separate but free download found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c243a5ae-4bd1-4e3d-94b8-5a0f62bf7796&displaylang=en

Solution:

Once the database server manager tool is installed and running, it will detect the SQL server and ask you if you wish to log on. Click connect and expand the security folder in the ”object browser”. Expanding the sub folder called ”Logins” will reveal a list of users. Double click ”BUILTIN\Users” brings up a dialog box of user properties. In that new window, select ”User Mapping” from the upper left corner box. In the upper half right side of the dialog box there should be a list of databases. Select the check box of the databases you wish this user to use. In the lower right section of the dialog box, is a list of roles to assign the user. For the time being, I just selected the role called ”public.” Click OK to close the dialog box and close SQL Server Management Studio.

I have installed in a second computer windows 7 ultimate 1.5 GB

Some problems with the kiosk and gadgets, they didn't show all the orders and the last order (gadgets).

Let me know how I can fix thiese issues

I have installed this version in a computer with 512 KB. (Windows 7)

The installation is ok.

there are some problems.

Sometimes the system didn't record the information in the DB, I found that the problem is: if we not included all the information in the address, and credit cards. Also I registered a person without CardSpace (if all the information is not completed it is not register in the db).

The gadget doesn't show all the information and the last information (order)

Same problem with the Kiosk , doesn't show all the orders.

But it is a real progress.

I installed 3.1 and have the same problem with 3.0 in that when I go to the default page and put in a zipcode (one of the zipcodes in the database) I get a guid error meaning that something is wrong with the services driving the menu.

I removed the service from IIs and recreated the virtual directory in Visual Studio, but that does not fix it. Further, when building the project I get an error in the delivery section:

Error 3 Unable to copy file "obj\Debug\DinnerNow.Restaurants.Delivery.exe" to "bin\Debug\DinnerNow.Restaurants.Delivery.exe". The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open.

it is weird, it works for me in my laptop with the same os vista ultimate.

Are you sure Powershell is installed properly on your machine?

Are your running from an administrator account?

the term "bindSSl-certificate" is not recognize as a cmdlet .....

how can I installed the ssl port and certificate?

In IIs7 make sure by looking under Content View that all the aspx pages and all the folders have been installed to the website.

Then in Features View under Authentication, make sure that Anonymous Authentication is enabled and Forms Authentication is enabled. All other authentications can be disabled. You might want to create another ordinary asp.net project being served under IIs and make sure it works as well.
