most probably you didnt set the item style to use the context menu item style. try that.

Created Issue: Security Trimming

I noticed that there was a bug related to security trimming and the context menus. It appears that the menus are no longer available and the icons disappear but items I have no permissions to still show up as links. clicking on them does nothing. This is different than the default Content Query Web Part which does not show items I do not have access to.

When the checkbox is turned off for "Show Context Menus for Items" when viewing a document library the icons images for the documents are displayed with an red X indicating that the image isn't there.

that is because of performance. the document icon can only be retrieved if we load the items (which makes the web part slow). that is why we have an option not to load data that is required for context menus.

Yes, I have checked taht all xslt-files that are used by my webpart are published as a major version.

We have 3 developer accounts. One is a Site Collection Administrator, the other two are Site Admins.
Only the Site Collection Administrator can render the control. The other accounts get the standard error received when one can not view a web part. We were able to install successfully and did not modify the source code. Any ideas why such a high level of security would be required for us to use the webpart?

Greetings,

I have installed the ECQWP Beta 2 Technical Refresh and have encountered a concern, the context menu's do not seem to be security trimmed. Specifically - I have a user with only view access to a document, yet through the ECQWP that user receives all of the options on the context menu dropdown (ie - edit properties, manage permissions, etc that they should not have access to). The result is an ugly access denied error and subsequent confusion that I would like to avoid.

Any insight?

Hi Ishaisagi,

I installed the ECQWP and deploy it on the sharepoint server. Everything works fine including context menu. When I tested this webpart as a reader or as different admin, only toolbar get displayed and no documents or context menu appeared & it gives error message:
"Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator."

Please advice.

Hi,
For question 2, if you click on context menu, then you can see the options "checed In" & "discard checked out".

Is there anything work around involved to make the delete option workable?

Hi, We just installed the ECQWP and it's working fine, except one thing: Show context menus for items. I only see links to the files. How do i make it work properly? Should i and how do i associate an XSLT file?

Hi everyone,

First off, thanks isahisagi for a great webpart and to all on the discussion forum for answers. Here's my problem:

After deploying the webpart to the farm, i had to manually populate the webpart via site webparts gallery -> add new.
The webpart showed up fine and can pull documents from another library, but shows them just as links without the drop-down context menu. I have enabled the context menu in webpart options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using the ECQWB against a Task List. It plugged in the QueryOverride and got the items I want. The trouble is when I click on the link it does not go to anywhere. I am getting this as a link

Just found another reason behind the "Cannot load the XSL file" error.

Imagine you activate the feature only to a site which is not the rootsite (like http://foo/sites/sitecollection).
The webpart will then search for the XSL at http://foo/styles... Of course the XSL is not there because the solution is not deployed in http://foo.

Workaround is to edit the .webpart file and alter the following properties:
<property name="MainXslLink" type="string">/sites/[sitecollection]/Style Library/ECQWP XSL Style Sheets/ECQWPMain.xslt</property>
<property name="ItemXslLink" type="string">/sites/[sitecollection]/Style Library/ECQWP XSL Style Sheets/ECQWPItems.xslt</property>
<property name="HeaderXslLink" type="string">/sites/[sitecollection]/Style Library/XSL Style Sheets/Header.xsl</property>

You can then import the webpart.

Works like a charm then, great stuff!!
