Building FusionWare.SPOT

Building the complete FusionWare.SPOT installation requires several components as follows:

Visual Studio 2005/2008 (standard or higher edition) VS2008 required for V3.0
Microsoft .NET Micro Framework SDK V2.5 or V3.0
Visual Studio 2005/2008 SDK (With Innovasys Help Studio Lite) VS2008 SDK does not contain HelpStudio Lite but has a link to it
Microsoft SandCastle (V2.3.8000)
SandCastle HelpFile Builder (V1.6.0)
Microsoft PowerShell for Windows
Windows Intaller XML (Wix) with Votive V3.0.4123

Note:
It is possible that later versions of the utilities used will work, however the versions listed here are the ones known to work, earlier versions will most likely not work.

If all you want to do is experiment with the source code and assemblies then you only need:

Visual Studio 2005 (standard or higher edition) VS2008 required for V3.0
Microsoft .NET Micro Framework SDK V2.5 or V3.0 (V3.0 needed for builds in the V3.0 branch)

VS will complain about an unknown project type for all the WIX projects when you load the solution. You can ignore those errors and once the solution is loded just remove those projects from the solution.

- Updated to build in VS2008 with MF SDK 3.0 Beta2 - Added SandCastle MSHelp Attribute Build component (used for marking MSHelp Attributes in help topics) - removed or obosleted old classes now replaced by official MS supported ones - Added HALEventQueue and HalEventDispatcher as standardized implementations of best practice pattern of usage for event notification from native code - removed "virtual serial port" interop functionality. This will all be replaced by FULL native code interop support in the V3.0 Micro Framework. - minimal "smoke" testing to verify everything builds and installs correctly.

THis release incorporates changes based on the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK V3.0. Some classes will be deprecated, others will re-direct to functionality added by MS and new classes and functionality will be added based on what is coming in V3.0. Specific work items and or features will be added to the TFS server once the MS SDK is officially released.

- minor comment cleanups in CustomActionHelpers.h - exposed read/Write of encoded7bit int to internal classes in attempt to fix serialization of arrays. - dropped serialization of arrays completely as there is insufficient data available via .NET MF reflection to desserialize the array and there are too many special casses to consider. Needs better design.

Other than being released under the BSD licene and new nameaspace. No new code was added to the library. This release is a straight conversion from the Tahoe SDK bound libraries to the new FusionWare.SPOT namespace that is hardware vendor independent and BSD licensed. This is the first standalone release of the libraries.
