An installer that doesn't install. I guess this is a legal issue, where MS cannot release files unless they're installable. The problem here being that it's not installable. And the result is this non-sensical installer that doesn't install. Nice job. 1 star.

I downloaded & ran AdventureWorksDB.msi which I assume is the main DB (some actual comments sure would be useful there).
It ran and... still no database. What do I have to do after running the installer? (actual instructions would really be terrific.)
thanks - dave

Helpful instructions that Microsoft won't tell you: Download the file to the temp directory of your choice. Right click on the file and select 'Install'. When the error comes up saying it can't find the file and requesting the location of Adv...[1].msi, then copy the msi file, rename to the requested file, and pick the file in the browse dialog.

It will help if you briefly explain what is in each downloads.
I was visiting your "readme" and other links trying to make sense of these stuff and I got highly disappointed. The information you supply are ambiguous, inaccurate and badly organized; no wonder your low rating in despite the high technical expertise of your site.

Downloaded and installed like a charm.
Also had the readonly problem, but then just detached the mdf/ldf's, set the permissions to give myself full control and attached it again.

I am annoyed by it. I have agreed to terms then saved to a specific location - but when the download is done - there's no file there. I also tried running it. download finished - and nothing happens. I am soooooooo pissed off

I was trying to download all day. Everytime, it stops at 3% and nothing happens after that. I tried from a different machine with same results.

Well, there's no problem at all during I install it, and attaching it to my own database, with acceptable downloading speed. The downloading speed were... about 200kb/sec. JFI, in case of eastern Asia.

Well, no resume download and ~30 Kbps rate from Brazil. It took a little bit, but fortunately, I had no timeout. After that, everything was good. Opened management studio, manually attach the database and presto!!
Thanks.
PS: For the lazy people, RTFM before judge Codeplex and Microsoft work.

Excellent! I downloaded three type of database files (.MSI 32 bit) - downloaded fast as I use broadband, and installation worked well. Though installation only extract the database file into default data folder for SQL Server 2005 and then user needs to attach it using Studio Manager. It worked for me with no issue at all.

If you're having trouble downloading, try using Internet Explorer. I was using Firefox and it would just hang...

I followed your instructions and there is no Adventure database to connect to. Most frustrating. How hard would it be to write a complete set of instructions? Not everyone that uses your services is a teck geek. Write things in English - no "if your setup is different" crap. Two hours of my time wasted.

The downloads work swell for me. What would we do without these samples, eh?

Sorry to say but I had a terrible experience. Clicked to download AdventureworksLT and after clicking on 'I Agree' nothing happens - just a busy cursor for ever!!

The installer for AdventureWorks*_x64.msi suggests the folder "c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data" instead of "c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data", where my SQL Server 2005 is installed and does not attach the databases (this step has to be done manually). I also find it weird that the AdventureWorksLT was set to Read-Only after I attached it.

the links do not work...i must guess that this is a terribly slow download that leads to timeout....waited for hours and nothing happened!

The LT sample is especially nice. As an idea for future endeavors, how about a reprise of the good old Northwind, just for kick?

Easy? How about a checkbox to select multiple downloads, or a package with multiple downloads included? This is a pain for multi-platform, multi-application developers like myself.
