Fist of all, gratz to all who made this app, U guys done geat work ;)

The app runs smooth can i can play with coordinates in a flat surface.

But what if I would like to store Latitude and Longitude in my database ?
Is it possible somehow ?

srid is the spatial reference for the point which should match the srid of the geometry (or -1 if they are not known)

ST.PointN Returns the N'th point in the first linestring in the geometry., ST.PointFromText creates a point from its well known text. The best reference for the functions is at http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/sfs which are the standars which mssqlspatial implement. hth jd
I have to find if a given set of latitude and longitude is present in the given set of Polygon (polygons are in a field named 'Geometry' in the spatial table ''Intersection_Output_2' )
..........................................................
Here is what I have:

Declare @a float
Declare @b float
Set @a = -93.6603392551339
Set @b = 29.8821835456083

SELECT HUC FROM Intersection_Output_2 where ST.[Contains](Geometry,ST.PointN(@a,@b)) = 1
...............................................................................................................................................

As I did not find any helpful explanation for the 'Functions' available with the MSSQL Spatial. I just had to guess that the function

ST.Contains would return a bit 1 /0 depending on if the point is present in the the polygon..

and to make a 'point' using the 'latitude' and 'longitude' available am not sure as to which function I need to use in the list below,

ST.PointN
ST.NPoint
ST.PointFromText.....

am sure there might be other mistakes in the above query.. as this is the 1st time am using this spatial extension to SQL server..If so Please do let me know I would really appreciate it!

Thanks a lot in advance!
This will allow the inner workings of mssqlspatial to work as intended while allowing you to use your original 'key' as an attribute filter. As far as index tables go, there isnt really a spatial index as such - rather each table has envelope columns added and indexed e.g yourgeometrycolumn_Envelope_MinX and these columns are used as a 'pre filter' for some of the query functions. hth jd

(which I assume is because rather than using int id's, I use guids.

I am definately going to need more of the functionality in this project, however I wont be using GIS tables or etc... just my locations with my lat/longs.
since some days i have tested your project – i can say it is working well.

Now, I want to use Sharpmap to display geometries in conjunction with the MsSqlSpatial database tools. I use sharpmap with shapefiles at the moment. My first tests and steps to implementation are finished. But there is a problem to form the DefinitionQuery for the FeatureDataTables.

For the following example I‘d like to have a Dataset wich is filtered by a where clause before execution a spatial function. The result must filtered again by an intersection query. The function „ST.FilterQueryWhere“ works well inside the sql development tools
What is the right syntax to define the query?

Function….

    Dim d As SharpMap.Data.Providers.MsSqlSpatial = New SharpMap.Data.Providers.MsSqlSpatial(Conn here, theTable, geomColum, idColumn)
    Dim ds As SharpMap.Data.FeatureDataSet
    ds = New SharpMap.Data.FeatureDataSet
-->    d.DefinitionQuery = "ST.FilterQueryWhere#dbo#datatable#the_geom ([ST].[MakeEnvelope](bounding 4x,SRID),'the clause here')"
    d.Open()
    d.ExecuteIntersectionQuery(bbox, ds)
    d.Close()
    d = Nothing

return…

I get an error like "near the ')' a boolean is expected"... Where is the documentation ;-)

Thanks in advance,
