NHibernate.Spatial, Spatial extensions for NHibernate, allows you to connect NHibernate to a spatially enabled database and manipulate geometries in HQL or in .NET code using NetTopologySuite, providing you with a fully integrated GIS programming experience.

There is also a similar but independent effort for Java: Hibernate Spatial.

Features:

Geometry types: Geometry columns are mapped to .NET geometry types compliant with OGCspecifications.
Dialects: MsSqlSpatial and PostGIS are supported. SQL Server 2008 support is at early stage. The most common spatial functions are registered for use within HQL, providing compatible queries among different dialects.
Criteria: Spatial relations functions such as Intersects, Within, Crosses, etc.
Projections: Spatial aggregate, analysis and tranformation functions.
Schema generation: Support for automatic creation and droping of auxiliary data objects (eg. registering of geometry columns in metadata table).
Metadata mappings: Built-in mappings to spatial metadata through GeometryColumns and SpatialReferenceSystem classes.

Requirements:

.NET 2.0
NHibernate 1.2

Installation:

Download latest sources and build. Copy the binaries to your project's libraries folder.
In you project, add references to NHibernate.dll, NHibernate.Spatial.dll, NetTopologySuite.dll, GeoAPI.dll and to provider assembly (eg. NHibernate.Spatial.PostGis.dll).

$0I think what you want to query is "City contains a point", so you sould use Contains instead of Within (ie. SpatialExpression.Contains(A,B) = "A contains B")$0

Hello guys...
I´m trying to execute a "within" postgis function using NH.Spatial ...
The SQL that I need to get is something like that :

select nomemunicipio from tblcity m where within
( '0101000020C31000000000000000C049C06666666666E633C0', m.the_geom)

So, I created my City class/xml, with geom like that:
<property name="Geometry" column="the_geom">
<type
name="NHibernate.Spatial.Type.GeometryType,NHibernate.Spatial">
<param name="subtype">MULTIPOLYGON</param>
<param name="srid">4291</param>
</type>
</property>

That works great to load, insert ...

So, I execute that:

public IList FindByPoint(IPoint __point)
{
IList results = Session.CreateCriteria(typeof(City))
.Add(SpatialExpression.Within("Geometry", __point))
.List();
return results;
}
And I always got a empty result...
The SQL generated was :

SELECT ... FROM tblCity this_ WHERE
ST_Within(this_.the_geom, :p0); :p0 =
'0101000020C31000000000000000C049C06666666666E633C0'

It seems the ST_Within attributes was inverted... The geometry (p0)
needs to be the fisrt in function...
Is that corrected?

Ps,: I´m using trunk build...

Sorry for not mentioning it in the project homepage here at Codeplex in a timely manner: NH Spatial is moving to NH Contrib project. NH Spatial aims to support NH 2.0 SP1 and NH 1.2 support has already been dropped.

I don't have any news of someone implementing a MySQL provider. If you want to be the first, please go ahead! :-)

Note that the code structure has changed in recent days, giving to every provider its own project. So, if you want to implement a provider, you should create two new projects: one for the provider implementation and another for the tests.

First implementation of SQL Server 2008 support (SqlGeometry type). To compile, it requires SQL Server 2008 RC0 (Express or above) or "System CLR Types" redistributable package (SQLSysClrTypes.msi)
