Just wanted to get a discussion going (a somewhat important one I believe) about what's missing from Phalanger and a relative priority for these missing features. I've seen a lot of work being done on Silverlight, and maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that PHP support on Silverlight is of little or no use - please correct me if I'm wrong.
Here is a preliminary list of what's missing, please feel free to suggest anything I'm missing or to suggest a new priority.
The list of features below is under the assumption that Phalanger's main purpose is to allow for an environment where existing PHP applications (bullettin boards, Ecommerce, the list is endless) to run under .NET, for speed improvement and .NET integration.
- PHP5 Extensions (PHP5TS) full support
- Visual Studio Debugging (with the ability to watch variables and their values)
- Continuing to better VS integration
- Namespace support (the new established syntax for PHP namespaces, as much as I hate them)
- DLR
- Silverlight
