Polling Web Part

New Post: Release 1.2 wsp has 1.0 files

I tried deploying the 1.2 solution and didn't notice anything different. I then opened the wsp and the timestamps for all the files were apr 4, 2008. Can you please provide the correct for the 1.2 link?

Rated 5 Stars (out of 5) - Good Web Part. Very Useful. Suggestions ... 1. If a user is still on the page after voting and simply hits the refresh button on their browser, they it adds yet another vote for them 2. Add the ability for the poll questions to be "active" or "inactive" in the poll list and for the "active" questions to rotate on the page with each page refresh

I created a 1.2 release with Jason's code it in. I successfully redeployed the assembly/web part and his cookie code is working swimmingly. Thanks Jason! When I get confirmation from a few more users I'll make it the default release (sorry about the delay - i have 10 projects and get inodated with requests/updates, this one got lost in the abyss).

This version has a cookie in it that limits responses to 1 per user. Thanks to Jason (dgiovanon) for the enhancement! Note - I didn't make this the default release because I haven't extensively unit tested the changes, but I'm sure Jason did a fine job... leave a note if things look good and I'll make it the default - thanks!

Thanks to elektronisch (Jason), the webpart now features a cookie that will limit responses to one per user.

I modified the web part to fix this issue for the install we are using.

I added the following code to the end of the two methods listed below.

ButtonCreatePollList_Click method and the LinkPollList_Click method, and the web part works on publishing sites as it does on any other site now.

the problem is not the webpart. I thinks the problem is the link itself,

Pasos que segui:

1.- Descargar el Source Code del WebPart http://www.codeplex.com/PollingWebPart/SourceControl/ListDownloadableCommits.aspx

importar el proyecto con Microsoft Visual Studio en el archivo PollingWebPart.cs cambiar donde dice:

SPField field = pollsList.Fields["Títle"];

por:

SPField field = pollsList.Fields["Título"]; (con acento en la i)

Ya que la aplicación esta creada para ser usada en un MOSS instalado en inglés, y el mio esta en Castellano

dps grabar, generar la solución y con Gacutil instalar el webpart en mi MOSS,

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin>gacutil.exe -I "C:\Documents and settings\dgiovanon\Desktop\PhilWicklund.com.PollingWebPart\bin\Debug\PhilWick
lund.com.PollingWebPart.dll"

ir a C:\Windows\assembly buscar la aplicacion recien instalada y copiar el token para agregar un SafeControl dentro del web.config del sitio Sharepoint

2.- Reinicie el IIS

3.- Ya en Sharepoint agregar el webpart PollingWebPart en la pagina que deseemos

4.- Bucar en nuestras Listas la lista Polls,

5.- Dentro de la lista "Polls", cambiar el titulo por Question, agregar las columnas Option1,Option2,Option3,Option4,Option5,Response1,Response2,Response3,Response4,Response5

Todas de tipo String de una linea.

6.- Crear un elemento nuevo en la lista...completar las distintas opciones y dejar vacio las respuestas,

7.- Listo!!! si nos dirigimos a la pagina donde instalamos nuestro WebPart tenemos que ver la encuesta con la pregunta y los items que nosotros pusimos

Many people have asked for the ability for users to only vote one time, I've uploaded a packaged version of PollingWebPart with this function built in along with some minor code changes.

Hi lfarho,

Try to deploy it on a site where the publication is not enabled ;)

The main differences btw Publication sites and "Normal" sites, are the Pages Library.

Hi again guyz,

i've finally found the internal who's doesn't match:

.views["All Items"];

must be set at .views[0]; to show the first view.

and the other one is the name field for the question, in my case (French) Title must be set at Titre. :)
