hello, got 4 different sites for each customer one and one for my own. On my site i got an library wih all the contacts and the URL from my customers.But now i wanna start an workflow from a customer his site that moves a document to another customer his site.But that url is in the contact library of my site so how can i get that url to move that document to another customer ?is it possible to make that URL variable ?patrick

First of all, thank you guys so much for creating these Custom Workflow Activities!
They have helped me a lot. I have hit a problem just now when using Copy List Item Extended.
The activity itself works wonderfully, but I really need to set permissions as well afterward.

What I have tried is making a workflow in the document library the file is copied to, and setting it to trigger when
a document is created or modified. Alas, this does not work across sites, whether I transfer files, or modify attributes.

I am new to Sharepoint, but don't expect you guys to baby me along... if you could kindly point me
to some buzzwords I could Google or offer a couple sentences in regards to the methodology in making this happen,
I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Some ideas off the top of my head to make this work:
Code event triggered by new /modified document
Code document metadata edit to trigger normal workflow
Timed Workflow Event [Copy List Item Extended seems to copy meta data just fine...]
Set permissions across sites?

I installed the Useful SharePoint Designer Custom Workflow Activities and I thought everything went OK, but I could see the actions in the Actions Pane when I clicked on them nothing happen. I removed it and I was wanting to knoww if I installed it in the wrong place? I have a Central Admin and two site collections.

Where do I install it to?

Do you have to do anything else other thatn what is said on the Install Guide?

Hi,
it it possible to change the behaviour of 'Copy List Item Extended' action? Now it runs as "System Account"... I would like to run it as DOMAIN/user...

Why do I need it?
Scenario: 2 lists, each list has an associated workflow.
List A runs automatically on creation/update... and use "copy list item extended" to copy the item to another list.
List B try to run automatically every time a new item is created... but it cannot, because the new item copied from list A is created by "System Account"... so Workflow n.2 doesn't trigger automatically....

The changes to get Lookup Site User to work mentioned in a previous thread (changing the DPWorkflow.ACTIONS setting where AppliesTo="doclib" to AppliesTo="all") were already made in the release that I downloaded - but I'm still not able to get it to work on my list or document library. "Lookup site user property" shows up in Actions but nothing is happening after it is selected.

Is there something else that needs to be set up?

Created Issue: Great activity, but version history ?

Hi,

just wanted to check it was normal after moving a document, the version history is all tagged as "system" user
also, workflow history is lost.

Very useful component for demos thou, will be a nice starter for writing my own activities when i liberate enough time to actually start writing some :)

I get the a message about not having rights to the registry when I try to install this even though I am the server admin. I have attached a screen shot.

happened to me also under virtualised, french, x64 environment :)

simply use stsadm -o addsolution, then deploy with central admin, then activate on webapp.
dont forget to copy from 1033 to 1036 (or whatever)

Is it possible to do the opposite of the "reset list permissions" activity? I need to programmatically detach a document from the library's permissions, so that they can later be changed based on the status of a workflow. Is there a way to use these activities to do that? Or is there some other set of custom actions that anyone can recommend to do that?

First off, thank you for working on this. It amazes me that SharePoint strips hyperlinks down to relative paths - breaking the links if you are outside the domain.

I have noticed your solution works in the case of pasting a complete link into a rich text Announcement. For example, "http://myschool.org/new_york/news_library/Week52update.pdf" works perfected when my workflow emails out the Announcement. However, if the link is enclosed in HTML <a> code, it's still being stripped: This is my <a href=http://new_york/news_library/Week52update.pdf">link</a>

That's why I've titled this "almost there"!

Can you get us over the goal-line with this?

Found a solution to this! Check-out Christian Glessner's iLoveSharePoint CodePlex project. He has a solution that brings PowerShell to SP Designer. To quote him:

"The problem isn’t the send mail action, it’s the rich text field which stripes out the servers name. The simplest way to get around this issue is using my PowerActivity (you need PowerShell on your server). Paste the following script in the PowerActivity:
$body = $item["Body"]
$output = $body.Replace("href=""/","href=""http://yourserver/")

$output is the workflow variable you have to assign (should be a string). Then use the send mail action and use for the mail body a look up to the just defined workflow variable."

This works!!!!!!!!!!

I installed this on two SP servers to test. One worked perfectly. On the second, I see the Custom activities... but when I choose one in SP Designer, nothing happens. The activity selection dialogue just dissappears and I am brought back to the Workflow Designer window.

Any ideas? Please email fflynn@newfoundlandpower.com.

I had this issue - found that i hadnt activated the feature in central admin for the correct web application.
When activate for Sharepoint - 80 web app in central admin, i ran IISRESET and then closed the SPD workflow and reopened. These functions then started working.

I had the problem where the Activities worked on test but not production. I copied the DPWorkflow.ACTIONS file located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\1033\Workflow form test to production and it now works in production. Although when I did a file compare on the 2 files I didn't see any differences.. strange.

In my Workflow, I want to grant "Edit" right to Created By to change value of a item's field.
because i think workflow have the same role with Created By who init this workflow.

I have set two activities sequently as below:
1. Grant "Contribute" Role for Created By.
2. Set Status to value: "Approved".

But Exception throw: Access denied.

Who can help me?
