Welcome to the SharePoint Forums Web Part Project

The SharePoint Forums Web Part is a free, open source, single web part that provides a more feature rich discussion board for SharePoint Portal Server and Windows SharePoint Services based sites.

The SharePoint Forums Web Part is a free, open source, single web part that provides a more feature rich discussion board for SharePoint Portal Server and Windows SharePoint Services.

It provides threaded discussions which can be locked, hidden, secured, and subscribed to and offers typical features found in discussion boards like phpBB and ASP.NET Forums.

The Web Part is self-contained and will create/update it’s own hidden lists for storage, but otherwise looks like any discussion board out there today but integrated with SharePoint.

I am really looking forward to watching this project advance through community involvement. Forums were (and still are) a severe painpoint for many organizations.

I have downloaded and installed. I am site admin, but for some reason i do not have an admin option on the forums. I have home, search, my profile, and members. Can someone help me and let me know how to fix this?

satishm wrote  Mar 28 2007 at 4:15 AM
I cannot see the Admin options after I installed the Web Part?
In order to see the Admin options, you must be either a) the first user in the system (user #1) or b) a site administrator where you deployed the web part. If you don't see the option but think you should you can edit the users list directly by going to http://servername/Lists/spforums_users/AllItems.aspx. Find your entry and edit the item, setting the IsAdmin flag to true.

I have exact problem bdaoud has. Once I attempt to place the webpart on a site, that site now forever requests login credentials, and always denies access. Anyone know why?

Is there an eta on Version 2.0 mentioned in the documentation? Thank you.
"... Some of these features will come automatically (like RSS and Email) with version 2.0 of the Web Part, which will ship with SharePoint 2007 (and is being actively worked on so you’ll have a release as soon as the product is ready later this year)...."

Is it possible to export the content of the forums to another application (like Excel,or even a text-based format) for offline viewing/organizing?

I tried to build from the source code for MOSS 2007. It seems not all dependencies libraries included in the source code package.
