Requirements : The .msi must be run directly on the SharePoint Server (WSS 3.0 or MOSS) with administrator's rights.

Great works, thanks.
Did you features only work with list? or for doc lib too (type 101)?

Thx ...
This first version only works for SharePoint default list templates (link, custom list, tasks, ...) but not for library.
I have to do library support in the next version.

no sources ?

Do you plan on releasing source?

Thanks for this, it works great.

Only problem I have using it on a "Issue Tracking" list is where it has an attachment option I can't disable everyone accessing this in the edit options.
If i give someone access to any column, they are able to edit/delete any attachment.

Any idea how I can rectify this?

Valli wrote  May 19 at 6:14 PM
Hi, Thanks for the post. I installed this and activated the feature. When I use Where to filter the columns based on security groups, this is not working. No matter what security group I give, if I use Where its displaying that column for all the groups. Am I doing anything wrong?

Valli wrote  May 19 at 6:33 PM
Hi, I got it working. Thanks.

gezzgin wrote  Jun 6 at 5:34 PM
Hi,valli.I have the same problem. can you explain how you do this.

andydailey wrote  Jun 10 at 9:00 PM
I checked this out and installed on my MOSS install and there was no tool bar (New,Actions,Settings) for any of the lists on the site. How do I fix this? I had to unistall it from the server and then my menus for list showed up.

gezzgin wrote  Jun 10 at 10:09 PM
Hi andydailey,
When you install the feature .DefaultTemplates.ascx is updated.and then If you uninstall the feature ,DefaultTemplates.ascx will not change. This ascx file is under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\CONTROLTEMPLATES folder. There is one more file also .This file is Documentmanager.ascx.bewise.This is the old version of DefaultTemplates.ascx.
Rename this file to "DefaultTemplates.ascx" and delete the updated DefaultTemplates.ascx file. One more information updated DefaultTemplates.ascx is file has 2 more rows which are about bewise.

the installer crashes on my system (win2k8 64bit with wss 3.0). :(

why didn't you implement it as a sharepoint solution package? are you planning to release the source code?

cstadler wrote  Jun 18 at 4:49 PM
The installer also crashes on my sharepoint server (win2k3 64 bit)... is there a different version for a 64 bit operating system?
thx in advance!

Hi,

I'm running MOSS on a load-balanced system. The installation worked fine so far on our dev-system but now I installed it on the productive system and we don't get the "Display Settings (powered by Bewise)" in the Site features. I installed it on all systems, at first I wanted to install it "for all users" which just didn't work, it came up with some "Exception whatever" therefore I installed it only for the current user. It worked this way.
So now I can't uninstall or repair the application anymore.

Repair Error:
Error 1001. Install is not able to update SharePoint manager file. The listForm manager is not standard.

Uninstall Error:
Error 1001. An exception occurred while uninstalling. This exception will be ignored and the uninstall will continue. However, the application might not be fully uninstalled after the uninstall is complete. --> Object reference not set on an instance of an object

Btw.: Installation Documentation would be fine. Even if it's just next-next there's still the option "only for this user" or "for all users" but what kind of effect hast that option?

i got the same errors when installing, reparing and uninstalling the solution on the live environment, however on the stagging it went fine and was able to activate it and it worked.. on the live environment i got the same errors listed above !!
whats the issue? is there something we are missing?

tamer_m wrote  Jul 1 at 7:35 AM
my system is an upgrade from SPS 2003, i think this is what causing the problem, since the SPS components are still present on the machine... since when installing on a fresh & MOSS environment, it causes no issues..
any feedback guys?

Hi,

With which tool did you create this installer? I see it is a .msi and it installs the .wsp file.

madtie wrote  Jul 8 at 5:44 PM
Hi! Great Job you did! =)
Is there a way you could make that work on mobile also? If you open the list in the mobile view (for example: /Sharepoint/m) that doesn't work anymore..

What do you think? Easy job? =) Thanx in advance

Great job Suchii. I have the same problem as Valli and Gezzgin...I have activated the feature from site collection and I am trying to display it for specific SharePoint group but it displays that for all. Can anybody explain me what am I doing wrong? I would truly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello All,

Has anybody experienced any issues while retracting this solution? Full tool bar was not displaying for any list in any site after retracting this solution from our SharePoint DEV environment. Full tool bar was not displaying even when we created a new site collection. We got Full tool bar back after redeploying this solution.

Note: We did not remove this solution completely. We just retracted this solution and that was causing Full tool bar to disappear from all the lists in SharePoint. I am wondering if this issue is specific to our environment or somebody else has experienced it too!

This is a good tool .. However.. I am running into the issue where the user can edit the collumn in datasheet view. I need the user to see it but not edit it.

notaguru wrote  Aug 7 at 6:36 PM
I figured it out. I had to create a new permission level that granted rights to add an item but not edit it. I then used this program to hide the Collumn from everyone but a certain group that has Edit rights. Don't modify this program. It works as designed. Thank You!!!

If you are getting a 1001 error when installing this follow this link and it will show you what I had to do to resolve it.

For those of you getting the 1001 error with "unhandled exception", make sure your SharePoint Timer service is running. The MSI deploys the solution, which means your timer service must be running for it to work. I suspect that's why some people get this error and others don't. I can only vouch for this solving the unhandled exception issue, not the 64-bit installer or any other exceptions.

SPListDisplaySetting causes Full tool bar to disappear from all the lists in Sharepoint. This was really a disaster for me. I appreciate Suchii efforts for sharepoint. But please DO NOT USE THIS CONTROL... This was really a disaster for me

Cool Tool, thanks Suchii,

is there an aproximatly release date for the integration with doclibs? I need this feature urgent for the metadata of an document library.

Is there any way to set the rights for more than one group to one field and form? I want to disable a field for more than one group, but want to enable it for two others. Any chance?
