What is SQL Server FineBuild?

FineBuild provides 1-click install and best-practice configuration of SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008.

Download FineBuild and read SQL Server FineBuild QuickStart for details of setting up the install media and additional community content. Then do your first FineBuild!

There are two members of the FineBuild family:

• FineBuild Version 2.0.0 for SQL Server 2008
• FineBuild Version 1.1.0 for SQL Server 2005. A beta version of FineBuild V2 for SQL Server 2005 also exists as Version 2.0.1

Pre-Configured Standard Builds

FineBuild delivers 4 standards builds:

• Default Server build - for multi-drive servers
• Named Instance build - adds another SQL Server instance to a server
• Workstation build - for single-drive desktop machines
• Client Tools build - just the tools, to allow remote administration of SQL Server
