Specs will be detailed soon.

New Post: Nested Tasks PLEASE!!!

I have been following the concept of nested tasks in SharePoint - this would be such a bonus to add to SharePoint for our employees - any move forward would be fantastic - The previous comments about roles and assigning them would be a great addition to the ideas already put forward...good luck and I will start to watch this space more!
These solutions is customer specific, but during the phases of defining customer needs I've gathered lots of experience and some ideas for a general purpose task management solution.

One idea, which users find great, is a task tracking workspace similar to the default Document workspace and Meeting workspace provided with WSS.Within this workspace it should be possible to track the progress for the main task as well as creating and tracking sub-tasks. Please contact me for more detailed specification.

Another idea, which is quite important for users, is a multilevel role based assignment of tasks and the ability to associate resources to a task. This is similar to Microsoft Projects way of handling resource requirements for a task.

Since I'm a business advisor and project manager, I do not develop solutions myself. However, I have seen what users need and may contribute with ideas and feedback if requested.

Please feel free to contact me regarding contribution to this project.

Well my major question is why did we stop doing anything on this? What's the latest on this project? Are we going to finish this? Or have we stopped because of a major road block?

NEW POST: Should it be .Net 3.5 and SP1 only?

More of a question here, should the nested tasks project target SP1 and .Net 3.5 only?

It will use ASP.Net Ajax so SP1 would be required for support.

Should we target the solution at 3.5 framework up front or stick to ASP.Net Ajax 1.0?

Andrew
Scott,

I know i've said this before, but I am planning to look at this... expect to seem some updates soon.

We now have the benefit that SP1 supports ASP.Net Ajax which is cool.

Andrew
This sounds corny but I am desperate to see this come to fruition! I have people who want to use this as a function and I need to keep turning them away - is this going to make any progress? I ask because it seems to have come to a dead halt. I have looked for other solutions but I always end up at a blog or site that points me to here...Please - please - please could this either be finished or removed? It is like waiting for Christmas in a sad IT sort of way!

Thanks
Any movement on this project - I would gladly contribute if I could code sadly it is a skill I lack. Is there an idea of when it might come to fruition? Please can we have an update - I know this is all open source which means you guys must be doing this off of your own back so thanks for that...

Scott
Nested tasks is exactly what I need.

Any news on when this might be ready to use on a live production intranet site? I notice the project has been ongoing for a few months now, has it slowed down (or stopped?) because you're all too busy, or because there is another solution available?

If donations would get this project completed faster, you should add a "make donation" button. :)
Scott,

Great to hear it will be of value, and you can be reassured that we do plan to get this to beta soon.

Andrew
This is going to be a stunning addition to the MOSS environment I work in - but I am wondering when it will be complete? I appreciate that it is a side project for individuals who write the code, wish I knew how...Any news about a final release date would be great.

Scott
