Created Issue: Inconsistent versioning

I downloaded TFS Admin Tool version 1.3. However, when I run the tool, the "about" dialog shows 1.2. The VERSIONINFO section of TFSAdminTool.exe shows 1.0.

The file timestamps imply that I really do have version 1.3 and that the two displayed version numbers are just incorrect.

I keep getting this error but only on one project.

The system is 2003 server + TFS 2005 + WSS 3.0 and admin tool 1.2 (got latest version today).

I can only install 1.3 on at TFS 2008.

What Can I doo?

I am only able to change the role of only one user. Then it is no longer possible to change any other user's role. It doesn't work to set multiple user's roles at once also. After restarting the application I can set the next user's role - but once again only one time.

It looks like that this only happens when I want to set the same role eg. Browser again. It works to set Browser for one user and then Report Builder for the next. But I can set each role only once.

Commented Issue: Invalid Server Error

When I press the "Select" button to display the users for a project, I get an "Invalid Server" error for projects that I did not create, even though I am part of the Team Foundation Administrator group. Everything works fine if I select a project I created. The other individual we have assigned to the Team Foundation Administrator group can use this tool to update the permissions on projects he created, but not the ones I created. Not sure what is causing this, as we both can administrate the users outside of this tool. It's just not convenient. If I log in using the TFSService account, I am able to use the tool without issues for all projects.

I am using version 1.3, although version 1.2 had the same problem. It also doesn't seem to be dependent on which template is selected for the project, as I can replicate for both MSF for Agile and the Scrum template.

Created Issue: Server is not updated when the set of queued changes have both delete and add operations

When the commit transaction contains both add and delete operations, all changes will not be commited except for the delete operations. Edit and Delete operations work fine together. Edit and Add operations work fine together.

Using this tool from a remote or the app tier computer works when I access the projects on my server and click 'select' I get a dialog box telling me that there was an error accessing the sharepoint for this project due to a 401 error. However I can access the site listed in the dialog box on any computer with any of my users, so I know that's not the actual problem. Any suggestions?

CREATED ISSUE: New users entered as DOMAIN\username will not resolve

Hi, on the TFS server where we have installed this tool we find that a user (say, DOMAIN\usera) that is part of PROJECTA cannot be added to a new project, PROJECTB. On entering the DOMAIN\usera, the TFSAdminTool does not resolve the name and will not allow entry to continue. A red validation icon appears, whose text is "Invalid Entry". Since DOMAIN\usera is part of PROJECTA, I do not think this should be an invalid entry, but instead appears to be a bug with the TFSAdminTool looking up the user name.

I attempted to change the SharePoint Roles for several existing users during the same session. It only processed the changes for one user. I had to close and reopen the exe for each user's changes. I am still on TFS 2008 Beta 2 maybe that is why.

This behavior appears to be the same for the RTM of 2008 as well. We are using MOSS 2007 and SQL Server 2005, if that makes a difference.

I noticed that after installing 1.3 the help still shows 1.2. Am I the only one seeing this? I know it's minor, but it caused some confusion today during upgrading.

Does the current release work with TFS 2005?

The requirements page on this project says explicitly VS2008 and TFS2008, but the change history for 1.3 simply says "an upgrade that works with TFS 2008. " - which implies that it does still work with TFS2005.

Anyway, when I try to install (whether on client or TFS server) I get the error "Team Foundation Server Team Explorer is not installed. Please install the Team Explorer fro your Team Foundation Server media. Installing Visual Studio is not required". Needless to say, I have Team Explorer already installed.

I've just downloaded 1.2 and it installs fine.

So I don't know if it is a bug or design that 1.3 doesn't work with TFS2005/VS2005 but a better error message would be nice :)

Okay, here's how I was able to uninstall it (and get 1.3 installed and working).

I downloaded and installed the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (aka MSICUU2) from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
I launched the "Windows Install Clean Up" from the Start menu
Scrolled through the list until I found TFS Administration Tool 1.2.0
Selected it and clicked on the Remove button.
Then I was able to install 1.3, but...
When I tried to launch 1.3, the files for 1.2 were still there (so I got an error that it couldn't find the Team Explorer v8 files...).
I then uninstalled 1.3 (which removed all the 1.2 files, start menu items, etc)
I then re-installed 1.3

NOW it works! Yeah!

If I had manually deleted the files after step #4, I'd probably been able to install 1.3 and run it the first time through (as the Windows Installer Clean Up utility ONLY cleans up/removes stuff from the Windows Installer database and DOES NOT actually uninstall a product... )

Actually, I just fixed it! Click the link that says "Click here for support information." There's a button in the resulting dialog box labeled "Repair". Click that button, then close this dialog box and uninstall from the Add/Remove Programs list. It will work now.

Nice... But I just tried that and it didn't work for me... sigh
On the TFS Admin Support Info dialog, I tried repair and from their I still get the same "Team Explorer is not installed" error dialog... sigh.

I'm going to try a MSIZap or like MSI Cleaner tool (as soon as I find a download for it)

I'm having the same problem as well. If I try to install the new version, it tells me I have to uninstall the old version first. When I try to uninstall the old one, I'm told Team Explorer is not installed. Some help would be appreciated. Thanks!
