ASP.NET WebProfile Generator

CREATED ISSUE: Static methods like Profile.GetProfile(username) ?

This seems to be an instance method in the generated web profile, but the asp.net website version its static.

I can't seem to get the Generate WebProfile command to appear in my context menu. It used to be there, but seems to be gone now. I even tried to re-install the add-in and it still won't show up. Is there something I'm missing here?

I was able to FINALLY get it working. What I did was manually remove all of the add-ins from Visual Studio. I also used a command line Visual Studio command to reset the plug-ins. I don't recall the exact syntax but if you google something like "manually remove visual studio add-in" or something like that, you'll see what I'm talking about.

I can't say for certain if that was the fix, but after doing that and reinstalling it seemed to work.

You Can put a screen that allow the user to chosse the namespace for the final class.

It would be nice if this could be integrated with the build process. Or perhaps made to run commandline, in which case it could be an exec task in the prebuild target.

I downloaded and installed the 2008 patch that was posted Jan 18, 2008.
I had to uninstall the 2005 version, then install the 2008 version.
Neither VS2005 or VS2008 recognized the addin.
I uninstalled the patch, reinstalled the 2005 version.
Then VS2005 found it again.
I found this http://www.knowdotnet.com/articles/vs2005addinupgrade.html.
So I copied the WebProfileGenerator files from my user\documents\VS2005\Addins folder to user\documents\VS2008\Addins folder and made the specified change.
VS2008 then recognized the addin and it worked.

Hi,
Could you modify WebProfile Generator to create the following method

public virtual WebProfile GetProfile(string username, bool authenticated)
{
return new WebProfile(System.Web.Profile.ProfileBase.Create(username, authenticated));
}

I am doing

public void Profile_OnMigrateAnonymous(Object sender,
ProfileMigrateEventArgs args)
{
WebProfile Profile = new WebProfile(Context.Profile);
// get the anonymous user's profile
WebProfile anonymousProfile = Profile.GetProfile(args.AnonymousID);

which always returns an uninitialised anonymousProfile.
I tried doing anonymousProfile.Initialize(args.AnonymousID, false);
but this doesn't work.
The only thing that does work is
WebProfile anonymousProfile = Profile.GetProfile(args.AnonymousID, false);
but this means manualy editing the WebProfile.cs file :-(

I am using the XmlProvider Library 1.0.0.5a

Ok, I didnt even know converting to .net webapp project would cause such havoc, but I dont have 2005 installed. Is there a download that will allow this to run inside of 2008?

I'd REALLY appreciate that, or format it outputs stuff so I can build my own proxy class.
