Entity Framework samples now on Code Gallery

The Entity Framework and Entity Framework Tools are now part of Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. You can find the latest samples and tools at ADO.NET Entity Framework & LINQ To Relational Data.

Will this CTP and the samples work correctly with VS 2008 Beta 2?

The June CTP does not work with Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 but the Entity Framework Beta 2 (just released today, 27-August) does work with Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Beta 2.

Bydia: the WebDataService template is part of Project Astoria (http://astoria.mslivelabs.com). We still don't have a beta2-compatible version, but we're working on one and we should have it ready within the next couple of weeks.

a sample for entity inheritance (table per hierarchy, table per type and also an association in a derived type) would be nice.

Hi,
I couldn't install ADO.NET Entity Framework Tools December 2007 CTP. in my environment (.net 3.5 release version, ADO.NET Entity Framework Beta 3 visual studio 2008 beta 2,).

Error: ADO.NET Entity Framework Tools Preview can only be installed if a necessary Visual Studio patch is installed. Please download and install this patch from this link: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=104985

When I try to install this patch the following error appears:
None of the products that are addressed by this software update are installed on this computer. Click Cancel to exit setup.

Hi francisco,
I had the same problem and I did solved by installing XML Editor QFE (VS Studio Patch).
You need XML Editor QFE to correctly install ADO.net Entity Framework Tools.
You can get the download from the below link

Hi,

The ADO.NET Entity Framework is good enough but i think to use it in Real world it will need lot more than what is available in the Beta version or it could be that i might be that it is already there and i am not aware of it.
Few of my requirements

1. I want to create a virtual Entity,
2. The Virtual Entity could be a combination of 1 of more entities.
3. Lookup/Picklist values - for e.g. i have a column Customer Type - Now the values for this column type are Prospect/Customer/Vendor/etc. i need to have a provision where by i should be able to provide attributes for such column types. Secondly such column types can also be data driven, so an option to link this (this although can be achieved by relationship but in real world what happens is all such values are stored in a single table).

If anybody knows any workaround to achieve the above please guide me in the right direction.
