Ok Greg - you must have done something magical from afar. Apparently the software heard your threat about taking screenshots & looking into it, and now everything works swimmingly. I promise I waited several days & many attempts to coax it to work before I wrote. Grrr! That happens to me when I call the help desk at work too - I must have evil software fairies following me around, destined to ruin my reputation with the technorati.

In any event... now that it's working... I love this tool, and I had just written a post on Tuesday lamenting how I wish I could backup my blog so if something happened to Google or Blogspot I wouldn't lose a lot of work. Thanks for using your spare time to do stuff for other people that helps them.

Also - thanks so much for responding so quickly. If it happens again I'll try to catch it in the act!

sigh... this is one of those "fun" issues. I'm able to backup your posts with no problems.

Can you take a screenshot of the app when it stops, and also zip of the application logs? (Go to the Help menu, select Application Logs and zip up the files there). Also can you email me your BBSettings files?

Ok, I used this tool to successfully back up one blog, but now I'm trying to use the tool on the second blog and it is not working. I followed the exact same steps so I'm not sure what could be wrong. (Incidentally, the BBU is not keeping my settings when I close it & restart it, but that's a separate topic.)

I have logged into my blog (the blog address is desperatelyseekingsavings.blogspot.com) and selected it to back up. I created a folder on my hard drive to store the files, which I selected. I keep the default settings and click "Backup Posts." The notification bar at the bottom just says "Saving Post Yes I Went Temporarily Insane" which is my most recent post... and that's it. Nothing is saving, it's just sitting there. I closed it, started over, same thing.

And now it's not even working for the first blog - I tried to get my newest post.

I'm running Windows XP if that helps... I'm not sure what else might be helpful, but I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

a) Restoring from a Single XML file (All posts one XML file) is not supported in 1.0.x. (It's coming in 1.5 though). For 1.0.x you need to backup to One Post per XML file.

b) Backing up from one blog and restoring it to another should work (that's how I do my testing, backing up my main blog and restoring to a different test blog)

To help me troubleshoot this, I'll need some information (please email the below info and stuff to me at gduncan411 at hotmail com)
1) What OS are you using?
2) What region/language is your OS running under?
3) Is your OS or system "Different" in any way?
4) What version of the application are you using?
5) Is your Google ID and Password "different" in any way? (I don't want your UserID/password, but are you using any unusual characters in it? Or is straight letters and numbers?)
6) Can you include a screenshot of the error?
7) Can you zip up the application logs and include those? (Go to the Help menu, select View Application Logs, zip up the files in that folder)
8) Can you include your BBSettings file?

Is it possible to restore a blogger blog from one large XML file or 50 per day to another blog?

I have tried everything, and it keeps saying my credentials are not right, when I know they are.

I've not seen this error before, so I'll need some additional information to try to figure out what's going on...

If you could please email me (gduncan411 at hotmail.com) the below info (as well as anything else that comes to mind), I'll see what I can do...

What version of the utility are you using?
What OS?
Can you email me a screenshot of the error?
Can you also email me the application logs? (Go to "Help/View Logs..." and zip up the files in that folder)
Also can you let me know the blog url your backed up from and also the blog url you were restoring too?
And if you're okay with it, can you also send me the XML file you were trying to restore?

When I am trying to restore one or more blog posts from backed posts, I am getting following message:

Error Posting to Blogger

Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index.

Kindly advise as what should I do?

Yes, this would be great. Something to allow you to export your blog to HTML files to be easily placed on your own web server or viewed offline....

I had to disable my FeedBurner feed as well before it would back up.

I also have used HTTrack, but I'd like something that is faster, and would back up my blog exactly as it is now, with images, and layouts, etc.

I hope this backs up everything, I've worked on my blog for over two years, and would hate to have it deleted or miss a lot of it.

I'd really love the option to download it and save it as HTML files, so I can add a link to it on a web site, and view it on my web site, instead of blogspot.

If you can point me at the posts of the nbsp issue I'll take a look... But the utility takes Blogger's atom XML and via their library (gdata.net) saves it directly to a file... The utility, when doing a single one post per file backup doesn't touch the saved XML at all.

So the issue may very well be with Blogger or the gdata library.

But in any case, if I can see the issue I can at least report it to them.

After quite a while, like 6+ months, I'm getting back to this forum and wondering what ever happened to the issues that I'd had back in Sept? I see that vers is now quite different from what I have installed, which is 1.0.7.16, so will try out latest vers now...but just wanted to follow-up here as well. Thanks!

BTW, one of the potential problems that I had with the vers I was using was that all the needed "nbsp;" that I had to embed in blog to format it correctly were NOT backed up, and in some cases, I had to embed dozens of them pre blog post to get it right so loosing them would be hundreds of hours of re-work.

I have tried downloading Blogger Backup but when I try to unzip I always get an error message (Error #37) Does anyone know what this means? I am just guessing that it's 'cause I"m using a Mac although I had not seen anything that said this Blogger Backup can't be used on a Mac. Anyone have any info. or ideas? Thanks!
