I downloaded the source code for the compatible CS2007 cswiki. When I made a new project out of it, I noticed that you have several files that have the same class name and are under the same namespace. Eg: BreadCrumb.cs is under "Controls->BreadCrumb->BreadCrumb.cs" and "Controls->Navigation->BreadCrumb.cs". They both have the same namespace "com.db4o.Wiki.Controls". Why is it so?

That's a very interesting question. I had to go back and look at my own code to find the answer. I found that the class had been moved from one folder to another. In my project file, only one of them is compiled. The other is orphaned. Sorry for the confusion. Delete the one in the Navigation folder. That's a left-over from the CS2.1 version.

If you're getting access denied, then can you ensure that the account your website runs under has read permissions for the the ~/bin/com.db30.wiki.dll file.

Anyway, even if you do fix the access denied error, you'll just get another error. I know that wiki won't work on CS08 because of some changes to the Core codebase. (anyway, you may wish to upgrade to Beta 2 which was released a few days ago)
i tried to "just copy the files into the installation folder" but i keep getting "Could not load file or assembly 'com.db4o.Wiki' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied. ". I'm trying this on CS2008 Beta 1. Do you have any guidelines for this?
Sorry, it doesn't look like there will be at this moment in time. Both eric and I are busier than ever, and as I have no need for the Wiki anymore, I'm spending what little free time I have o other projects.

If you're concerned about hte flow of updates, the source code is available and so you can either update it your self or hire a developer to do so for you.

The wiki is now compatible with CS2007, and shouldn't take more than an hour or so to update for CS2008 when it's released and it works fine - the only problems are the interface for creating pages and deleting pages isn't the most efficient and depending on how you wish to use the wiki, this may be suitable for your purposes.
The big problem with the update from CS2.1 to 2007 was the change in the theming engine. This required all the presentation controls to be rewritten. If you have a look at the code, you'll have noticed that very few changes have been made to the core files If you have a current 2.1 install, you should be able to copy the wiki files over to a CSWiki2007 install, without noticing any differences in the content (Note, this hasn't been tested, although since the code has changed little, it should work).

As for CS2008, the themeing engine is remaining the same, so in theory, the Wiki should work without modifications however, this is rarely teh case, and so I'd suspect some modification is required. As for how much, we won't know till the first beta is released any time soon.
It appears to me from the discussions that wiki code will have to be modified for each version of Community Server. I was wondering what level of change is required from version to version and how tightly is it coupled with the version specific code.
Also, what are your plans for the wiki for CS 2008 which is going to be released shortly? Do you think we need a huge change for the existing wiki to work with CS 2008 or it would only be a minor impact?
The core wiki functionality works at the moment. Most of the bugs at this moment in time are in the way the options are displayed e.g. If a user doesn't have permission to do any of the options in the Common Tasks, the Common Tasks sidebar area is still displayed, and when a topic is deleted, the user is not redirected to another topic so it may not look like.

It is also missing some of the functionality from the CS2.1 release such as the ability to set specific permissions for specific topics. Whilst I believe the code still exists to do that, There isn't a way to do so through the UI at the moment.

The bugs you'll face will most likely just be minor annoyances, as opposed to showstoppers - although I'd reccomend your best bet is to try it on a test install of CS so you can determine whether or not you want to use this Wiki.
Hi there,

I noticed the release of the "not complete und unlikely to be completed" code by afscrome.

Does anyone know, what is incomplete about this release and why it is unlikely to be completed? If my company chooses CS 2007, we would like to throw in a wiki for our developers. We are prepared to throw some work in to make it run, but it would be nice to have some idea how much work this is going to cost us.

TToni
hi,

I have a problem with the CS-Wiki Addon (1.6.1). In the titles and in the breadcrumb navigation there seems to be a problem. So the german char "ä" is replaced by this & amp;amp;#228; . It seems that the page is created in the filesystem with correct chars so this is mainly an very ugly display problem. It get's even more worse, because you cannot change the title of a created page.

Any suggestions to get around this?

Michael
