Enough churning... Gimme 2.0 is finally here!

I decided enough was enough. So even though I still have many incremental changes and enhancements I want to make, Gimme 2.0 is in a stable enough state to be moved out of beta.

Inside the zip you will find:

/caspian/build/debug/gimme.js --- Fully commented, uncompressed and full version of Gimme 2.0 (including all modules and extensions)

/caspian/build/release/gimme.js --- Uncommented, white-spaces-stripped, variable-shrunken version of Gimme 2.0 (This version should be used by those who have HTTP compression enabled on the server)

/caspian/build/packed/gimme.js --- P,a,c,k,e,r version of Gimme 2.0 (This version should be used by those cannot take advantage of HTTP compression)

Also included:

/caspian/src/gimme.ajax.js --- Gimme AJAX Module
/caspian/src/gimme.animation.js --- Gimme.Animation Module
/caspian/src/gimme.effects.js --- Gimme Effects Extensions
/caspian/src/gimme.events.js --- Gimme Events Module and Extensions
/caspain/src/gimme.object.js --- The Gimme Object source code
/caspian/src/gimme.query.js --- Gimme's Querying Engine

Quick Sample

g('div.gimme').addEvent('click', clickHandler, false).addClass('pretty');

The above code snippet tells the browser "Gimme all <div> elements that contain the class 'gimme', and add a click event listener to each one that invokes the function, clickHandler when the click event is dispatched. And oh, by the way, add the class 'pretty' to each of those <div> elements while you're at it!"

Contributing

Thank you for your interest in the Gimme ECMAScript Library! Due to some licensing restrictions, code contributions from the community will not be accepted, however the Gimme source code is completely free and open to all who wish to view it and learn from it.

If you would like to take the source code of Gimme and create a forked project of your own, you're more than welcome (and encouraged) to do so.

No one seems to be interested in discussing anything, so I thought I'd try to get the discussion going.

Isn't Gimme cool? What other Javascript library has such a fun and playful name? Just makes you want to go write Javascript all day, doesn't it?

The latest and greatest Gimme has to offer is now available as a public beta.

Gimme Caspian sports a brand new (faster) querying engine and improved extensibility as well as better cross-browser support.

Within the zip, you'll find 3 different versions of gimme:

/build/debug/gimme.js is the uncompressed and fully commented version

/build/release/gimme.js is the hyper-crunches version with comments and white space removed (use this version if your web server has gzip enabled)

/bulid/packed/gimme.js is the p,a,c,k,e,d version of gimme (use this version if your web server does not have gzip enabled)
