Project Description
High Ball is an Enterprise Application designed for use as ticketing, asset management (i.e., were are your rail cars and passengers), and other transportation related functions and needs. This application could be used by logistics companies or other entities.

I've created this solution after taking my 100th+ Amtrak Train Trip in the north west corridor between Seattle (Tacoma specifically) and Portland. The method of seat assignments, reservations, and other associated tasks are very manual intensive still. So I decided to start an open source project related to resolving, or providing a solution that would resolve this excess manual interaction. Time delays, seat assignment issues, and general customer approval would be vastly increased by use of accurate distributed systems that could assign seats (or allow a choice seat), allow upgrades, and remove the need for the conductors and other staff to spend many extra minutes each day manually assigning over 300 seats per train (some trains have over 600 patrons ride per one trip).

I also hope to build in the ability to add "plug and play" type interfaces for user input and tracking of other things such as; rail assets, passenger cars, bus route transfers, and other things.

The overall intention is to create an application that could prospectively be used by anything from a transit authority, a passenger rail entity (like Amtrak), InterCity Passenger Bus Service, Ferry Boat Service, or other entity.
