iTunes 2.0

RELEASED: Development - iTunes on the web (Oct 01, 2007)

The prototype phase of this application is now complete... I am one hundred miles an hour into the development phase.

This first release of the development code has the following features

1. Expression Blend C# controls for
a) MediaPlayer
b) MediaDisplay
c) MediaView

2. Basic arcitecture for how silverlight controls communicate with the base asp.net page and vice versa (via a _pageController class)

3. Deep integration with MP3Tunes.com lockers. This allows true online music player features. A MP3Tunes.com locker is free and allows you to store upto 1GB of music online and has a staple of free music available. The current version of the codebase has a demo account so that you can see what a locker is and what content is available.

4. Use of webservices to communicate with third parties and to deliver a true desktop like user experience, no full page refreshes here!

For the period of 1 month i set out on a prototyping adventure to see if iTunes could indeed be created as an ajax / silverlight web application. The end prototype web application proved that we could deliver the iTunes experience online.

Now begins the development phase of the project. Converting the prototype into a real application.. Let's begin!

I have just added a new package to this website, it's the source code to another Apple related source code. "A beautiful Website" will ultimately be a package of web controls written in SilverLight that when mixed together will result in an amazingly beautiful website, in the likeness of Apple's website.

This is the latest source code for the PROTOTYPE. If you check out the home blog for this project ([url:http://advertboy.wordpress.com/project-silverlight-11/] you will see how this prototype came into existence.

The next evolution for this prototype will be to turn it into a fully functional production application.

LiquidBoy will begin to take this prototype thru the development lifecycle defined in his project plan (see blog) and the source code for this will also be found here starting on the 12th August 2007. So check back here for new source code as the project continues!
