I uploaded the latest source code, where you can bind any action from Visual Studio environment to mouse gesture - even your own macro. Because it is still untested and it might be buggy I don't make it another release. I don't have any time right now to work on this project so if you are interested you can join in.

I just found this project, and am excited by the promise it has. I'm also interested in seeing support for more actions. You mentioned starting to add support for this. Is this coming along? I'd look at doing so myself, but wanted to make sure that there wasn't something nearly done already.

If you're ever interested in feature requests:
Click combinations. E.g.: Left click+hold, right click, release all = move right (ctrl+tab)
I use it extensively in Opera for navigating tabs.
It's easier to to do becaues you don't have to move the mouse at all, but the combinations are off course limited.

As an extensive Opera user, I would love to see mouse gestures in ALL applications. How many times I have used them in IE and explorer just to be dissapointed by a useless context menu ;)

I just installed your plugin and configured the first actions. I'm pretty sure I am gonna use your plugin extensively

what about adding a mouse gesture that goes through all tabs and shows tab previews as a small bonus, like in Opera
hold right mouse button down and when you wheel up (down), switch to next (previous) tab. imo this is easy to iplement, isn't it :)

And I'm absolutely sure "U9L" is useless (never used diagonal gestures) =) It's just a demonstration of syntax that can simplify gesture binding.

CLOSED ISSUE: Context menu redraw bug

When pluging is loaded context menus on solution explorer and tabs header are blinking.
It's like they are redrawn twice. Quite annoying.

Unload won't help. Only Studio restart with pluging deactivated.

Computer:
Windows 2003
Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite
Other plugins: CodeRush 3.0.5, Refactor! 3.0.5, Resharper 3.1
Comments: The bug was caused by wrong Windows hook / Click emulation commands order.

The fixed version will be published later this week.

Thank you for your suggestion. The "wheeled" gestures looks interesting and I will have closer look at them.

I am not sure if it is good idea to support gestures like "U9L" - it will give you huge amount of new gestures but on the other hand they will have to be performed more precisely.

The gesture recognition algoritm is quite robust in the current version, so users can perform gestures "messily" and it's something I like and I don't want to sacrifice it.

That sounds promising. But what about other addins like Resharper? I spend a lot of time twiddling around with the keyboard shortcuts, as that tool really relies on their use for true productivity. Nice to hear of the progress!

Yeah, you are right - I am testing new version of the add-in, which allows you to bind any command to a mouse gesture.

I'm used to Mouse Gestures pluging for FireFox and that's why I started to search something alike for Visual Studio.
I suggest to wide gestures available (the "wheeled" ones in priority =)

For example:
<right key>wheel down</right key>- switches current tab to next one.
<right key>wheel up</right key>- switches current tab to prev one.
<right key>left key</right key>- go to one bookmark backward.
<left key>right key</left key> - go to one bookmark forward.

btw, mentioned firefox pluging have nice syntax for gestures. No need to enum all available combination of mouse moves when gesture can be described like:
"D" - for down gesture
"U9L" - for up, then up-right (position of 9 on num keyboard), then left gesture
":02" - hold left key and then press right key (0 for left, 1 for middle and 2 for right mouse buttons) (no gesture here so 0,1,2 are not directions)
"0+" - when left key is pressed wheel up

Thanks for the quick reply! If I wasn't so bogged down with so much other work, I might crack open the source. :) But, in my case, I have ReSharper installed which has a LOT of keyboard shortcuts. Also, there is a plethora of other commands available under the Keyboard shortcuts settings in the options menu. Mapping a gesture to a keyboard shortcut seems to be a neat quick way to get the job done. It would be real neat to use the same API that the options dialog uses to list various "commands". The most useful gestures for me might be some of the shortcuts I use all the time:
- Build selection (not entire solution... this is much faster when there are a lot of projects)
- Find usages (ReSharper Shift-Alt-F12)
- Refactor 'this' (ReSharper Alt-`), or rename (Control-Shift-R)
- Toggle breakpoint
- Run to line
- Set active statement
- Toggle disassembly
- Find in files
