BeyondPod for Windows Mobile

Created Issue: After providing username and password in feed setup, Podcast still does not download and an error 401 is received. [31367]

This worked perfectly with the free podcasts. Upon subscribing to a paid podcast, I created a new feed, entered the new rss site and entered the user ID and password in the feed setup. I select update feed, the app tries and then fails with the following error message: The remote server returned an error: {401) Unauthorized.
The podcast site is http://spod.dahl.com/rss and uses HTTP_AUTH Digest as the authentication scheme. I am using windows mobile 6.5 on HTC Touchpro2 Phone. I am able to download the podcast from a PC using rss feed in browser with the username and password combination.

I have the same problem (about 2.5 years after this original post and using this on windows mobile 6.5 with Beyondod 3.1.1 ). I have entered User Name /Password in the appropriate area; however, I still receive an error 401: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. The Feed list shows up but I cannot download a podcast. Please let me know what I need to do to resolve this.

First thank you so much for making not only such a useful program but a nice clean efficient program !! it really is excellent software!

Second Please do not abandon us windows mobile users (IE WM6.5) some of us are on legacy accounts that are VERY nice bag for the buck and "CAN NOT" upgrade past certaint hardware because of new stupid rules by our providers. For example the newest hardware I can use is my Touch Pro 2. I will NEVER be able to use a WP7 or Android device (unless they get android fully working on the TP2 of course) because sprint has declared all newer phones off limits unless I upgrade my plan since that would entail LITERALLY doubling my bill and getting absolutely nothing new service wise well I am not doing it :-) hehe So please if at all possible don't abandon us !

Feature Requests:

Resume playback when call ends. it pauses when I get a call (excellent) but when the call ends I have to hit play and its rather hard to hit play. (tiny buttons) when driving the car and dangerous. having it "auto resume" playback when I end the call would be really nice.

Timed Playback. many times I listen to my podcasts when I am going to bed. problem is sometimes I fall asleep before turning it off you can see the problem this creates.

I had a player once that did this but can't remember what it was called. I could specific a time interval (I set it to 15 minutes) and every 15 minutes it would "pause" playback and I had to "tap" the screen to resume playback. (tap anywhere on the screen) and it would resume for another 15 minutes. this way if I fell asleep I was never more than a few minutes from where I left off.

also maybe it already has this (I am still finding new features) but a dedicated "playback" screen would be nice (instead of the pod cast list with playback integrated)

this way it should show album art larger and allow larger buttons and finer access over playback control etc..

I have no real complaints. overall its an amazing program and for free! which is even more impressive and appreciated!

Hey I love the Zune software on the phone but it just does not do podcasts as well as BeyondPod. Anyone tinkering with the idea of porting the app over? I have no idea what technical hurdles will have to be overcome to even get it into the Marketplace, but I would be content with side loading it for the time being.

While loving the balance of BeyondPod's features, the key use - and one that kept failing/freezing on my HTC Hermes - was passing the stream URL to my audio-player. I use the Core player (one of the most feature rich) to manage most multimedia...but began to suspect incompatibility (or resource contention) with BeyondPod. Ultimately, I was able to effect a work-around, with which I am quite happy:

1) Disable most audio "default extension preferences" within the offending player (in this case, Core)

2) Find/download GSPlayer - it's a golden oldie from the WM5 days, folks - and install

3) Be sure to enable all of the GSPlayer file associations, then restart...

4)...after this, BeyondPod happily invokes GSPlayer for its podcasts, correctly passing the URL and streaming begins.

I am suffereing same issue in my HD2. Could you please be so kind to confirm that no other second effects happen after changing the webview.dll file? I am using Opera as web browser. Any effect on Opera?

(I imagine that the new file is there for someting (fixing some bugs or allowing new features) so some effects are expected)

Commented Issue: Allow use of GPRS/EDGE/3G not working all the time [21814]

I have "Allow use of GPRS/EDGE/3G" unchecked. I do not want BeyondPod using that connection. I want it to use my WIFI (when connected) or ActiveSync only.
BeyondPod will still try to "dial" my connection when I select a feed and it goes to the "content page" of the feed. BeyondPod does NOT dial if I select menu -> Update and download -> All Feeds (or any other option on the menu) from the main screen so that is working fine.

Seeing other thread http://beyondpod.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=53878 , I downloaded NETCFv35.wm.armv4i from below URL, installed, and the problem has fixed.

I'm usind this software on TG-01 (T-01 docomo), WM6.5 Japanese.

Originally the content of each feed wraps in screen so that I can read the content by scrolling vertically.

But for somewhat reason, my content of each feed does not wrap, nor scroll vertically/horizontally by touch action.

Could I fix it to the original screen which wraps at right end of the screen?

Using a T-Mobile Dash (HTC), when the schedule task to turn off the w-fi is used, the Wi-Fi cannot be turned on with the Connection Manager.

Workaround: Cyclepower on the phone (hard reboot)
