Project Description
The search center branding removal tool can be used with Search Server 2008, Search Server 2008 Express and SharePoint Server 2007 for Search to replace the out of the box search center look and feel with a blank unbranded page layout for search results and advanced search.

The solution is deployed using the solution deployment framework and installed using the SharePoint Solution Installer http://www.codeplex.com/sharepointinstaller (Thanks Lars :)) and is enabled and disabled through a site collection feature.

As described in the release notes "Once the install has successfully complete simple go into the site actions for the search centre site, Site collection features and activate the search minimal layouts feature." But Site collection features can't be reached from "site actions for the search center site" you have to "Go to top level site settings" first. Is that what is meant? I'm not sure what to expect once that is done, but one effect is that the welcome page setting on the site collection gets broken. I don't see any difference in the appearance of the search center site.

It sounds like you are trying to use the BRT on a MOSS site, is this correct? Using Search Server or Search server express, the search centre site is the root site collection, if you are on MOSS it is not and what you describe may be happening. can you please confirm and if so we will have to fix this for MOSS.
