SharePoint Navigation Web Parts

Created Issue: Adding the web part to a page renders with URL error

When I place the web part on a page, I get the following error:

“An error has occured with this web part. Please contact your system administrator and relay this error message: Invalid URL: /.”

I get this even before I tried adding the source list. I've tried filling in the source list for the part in the properties page as well, but no change.

What to do next?

Thank you for posting the Show Sub Sites web part, a simple but very useful navigation tool. It would be so much more useful if it could display different columns (attributes) from the site list. In particular, the site owner and the categories with which the site is associated.

The Show Sub Sites list only displays the sites one level beneath. It would be nice if it could go two levels deep.

The following navigation web part is set up to show a security trimmed list of all sites either starting at the root or a specific URL in a tree view format.

Is WSS 2.0 there was a web part which would allow users to get a list of the sub sites. In 3.0 it wasn’t an option. This is a simple web part which will do this for you. It will display a list of sites one level beneath the current site the user is at.

Overview: The following code demonstrates how to create a custom menu control in SharePoint that goes 3 levels deep with the same look and feel as the SharePoint horizontal naviagation.
Prerequisites: A custom list to maintain the data for the menu items must be created with the following columns

Title – Single line of text
Link URL – Single line of text
Link ID – Single line of text
Parent ID – Single line of text
Link Order – Number
Display – Choice {Yes, No]
Item Level – Choice [Level 1, Level 2, Level 3]
