Simply put the “resource viewer extension” enables you to visually view your ResourceDictionary.

To open it go to: View – Other Windows – Resource Viewer.

When working with WPF/Silverlight you put your reusable resources in a common ResourceDictionary, those resources might be of type Style, SolidColorBrush, DrawingBrush, BitmapImage and more. The problems starts when you have that ResourceDictionary you have no way to see how your resources look like, making the work process (of both the developer who maintains this dictionary and the one who uses it) clumsy and based on guessing.

This extension comes to solve those problems!

With the “Resource viewer “ extension you can open any ResourceDictionary and actually see how your resources look like – your icons, brushes, etc. are all being visualized right inside Visual Studio.

Than when you’ve found the resource you’ve been after you can “inject” it into a file that is opened within Visual Studio.

This is a Silverlight spherical selection control that I built that uses the projection transformations in Silverlight. It includes several modes (including random, rows, columns, vertical carousel, horizontal carousel, and checkered) and events.

Upon selecting one of the elements (which are arranged in a spherical pattern, hence the name), the sphere rotates until the control is at the front face of the sphere.

Events are available to hook into (on element selected, rotation finished, etc.).

This control has several display patterns:
-Random (elements are dispersed randomly over the sphere area)
-Checkered (elements use an alternating row/column checkered pattern)
-Columns (elements are dispersed in primarily column-type pattern)
-Rows (elements are dispersed in primarily row-type pattern)
-Vertical Carousel (elements are all aligned on a single vertical plane)
-Horizontal Carousel (elements are all aligned on a single horizontal plane)

It was built in Silverlight 3 but the code example is in Silverlight 4. It should be compatible with any version of Silverlight that has the projection transformations.

We are still in this migration process. Expect new builds with more and more components on an ongoing basis.

Documentation and articles will also be forthcoming over the next months and weeks and will be published in CODE Magazine (in print and online) and be linked to from here. We are also working on some videos and some tools and project/item templates which will make it much easier to use this framework. Please check back in a few days. We are hoping to release some of these very shortly.
