personal statement

It began with my power ranger toys getting jealous when I'd watch my older siblings on Doom95, GTA I and Mortal Kombat II in Finland. Later when we moved to England my brother and I would take turns on Civilization II on the family PC. Taking it apart, making notes, then putting it back together to build another was a no-brainer; how else would we LAN on Starcraft I, Warcraft I or Battlefield II? I thought my life changed when I got Born to Perform Card Magic by Oz Pearlman. But it felt evermore limitless when I found my love for GameMaker. After editing the plane scrolling shooter tutorial to my taste of Raptor: Call of the Shadows, I got to animating Super Mario sprites that would run mid-air - my first bug! The limits of the GameMaker GUI dawned...no simultaneous key presses?! What's this built-in language only for 'experienced' users eh? Let's dig a little deeper... AHA; so anything IS possible. Excitedly I told my uncle the old news, who suggested Beginning Python: From Novice to Professional. I diligently ploughed away at the exercises while reading The New Turing Omnibus: 66 Excursions in Computer Science. Shocked at the history of QWERTY I became an early adopter of Colemak...the first Intel i7...the first 120hz monitor... NVidia 3D vision...maybe a little carried away heh. By the time I finished the books and completed Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I was ready for the year 2045; I mean University ;)
