Personal Statement

Rather than a chronological coredump that tracks my meanderings, highlights are just more interesting:
  • I started a dot com in the day, providing real-time document collaboration services for knowledge professionals. If you've used MS Live or Webex, then, you're close to what we did. We had a bit more around document handling--digital signatures, tracking multiple edits, etc.--but essentially we were just about 7 years too early ;-) We did sell it for a profit though ;-)
  • I'm intrigued by solution architecture and the interplay of different components toward producing a solution. Consider two extremes. Each has their place, and the job of a good solution architect is to understand when and where to apply those approaches.
  1. an agile, scripting-language based approach, with integrated, concurrent testing, and interacting service components acting as a meshed solution
  2. a documented, planned, and structured waterfall PM (a la RUP), with well documented interfaces, strict governance controls, and integrated libraries into a single solution set
  • For my Masters degree from Boston University, I studied technology policy development. My thesis focused on the migration of innovation, that is, how people moving from company to company, are the most innovative.
  • Despite living in New England, when the weather is good, I will ride my Harley to client meetings.
