Garrett Serack

Open Source Community Lead

From Code Wrangler to Wild Cat Herder

Since his first commercial work at the age of 11 (a stock simulation game on the Vic-20), Garrett Serack has pounded out code on more than 20 platforms and 35 programming languages. Garrett built a career as a Software Development Consultant, moving from developer, to architect, to mentor over the course of 16 years, working for companies as diverse in size as their markets.

Since joining Microsoft in the fall of 2006 as the Community Program Manager of the Federated Identity team, Garrett has been working with the companies and the open source community to build digital identity frameworks, tools and standards that are shaping the future of internet commerce and strengthening the fight against phraud. Garrett is co-writing a book titled Understanding CardSpace which will be available in the fall of 2007.

Garrett lives in Bothell, WA with his fantastic wife Brandie, and their two amazing daughters Téa (5) and Indyanna (2) who remind him that every single day brings new experience and possibility.
