personal statement

Retired in 2011, after 27 years, from Datatel (now Elucian), Inc as its Chief Software Architect. For amusement in retirement, is now becoming involved in open source software for sound generation and composition.

Originally trained as a composer (BA 1966 Pomona College under Karl Kohn, MMus 1968 University of Toronto under John Weinzweig and Gustav Ciamaga and accomplished ABD (all but my dissertation) working on a DMA at Stanford University studying computer music under Leland Smith and John Chowning 1973-1976. Made the jump from music to the computer industry in the late 1970's.

Has developed software tools (compilers, code generators) as well as applications in C#, java, C, C++, assembler, Unibasic, Fortran on Microsoft, unix and sundry OS's that have come and gone over the years, but loves high-level design and prototyping the most.
