personal statement

I am currently a Phoenix University Online Student in the Software Engineering program.

I love programming. I'm by no means extremely good at it, but I am always wanting to make myself better and love to learn anything I can. I prefer VB.NET but plan on getting into C# as soon as possible; probably even converting my current SysPad project to C# code.

A brief Programming History.
  • 1995 - First webpage with GeoCities WYSIWYG editor
  • 1996 - Bought an HTML book from
    • For several years i experimented with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Nothing real in-depth, but a basic understanding of these concepts.
  • 2002 - Semester of VB6 in High School. After High School, continued to experiment with this programming language.
    • Had an ongoing project with a friend from High School that was never completed due to Windows limitations on security. The goal was a program that created random passwords only the user could determine. Could never get this to run on Windows Startup though before everything else because of Service and security limitations.
  • 2003 - Began experimenting with PHP and mySQL. Had a project in the works called Planets Rising based off of (Solar Empire). After the project was stopped, I went on to learn PHP and mySQL more in depth.
  • 2005 - Went to Pensacola Christian College for 2 semesters with a major in Computer Science - Software Engineering. Only ended up taking a C class.
  • 2007 - Began my stint at ITT. Have learned VB.NET, C++ and Java.
    • I am currently most interested in VB.NET and beginning to get my hands wet with C#.
  • 2009 - Graduated Valedictorian, with honors, from ITT Technical Institute with an Associate's Degree in Software Applications and Programming.
    • As of May 2009, I have been working with High Cotton USA ( for a year. They are a mailing company that makes custom letters for clients (mostly transactional and collections). Then on a daily basis, the data is merged with the letters through a series of custom-built, automated programs that handle each client's data.
  • 2010 - In June, started attending University of Phoenix Online to get my Bachelor's in Software Engineering. Expected graduation is July 2012.
