Hi,

I got the same error (I had only the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell (isolated mode) )

The solution: I installed:

Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell (integrated mode) - ENU (got this automatically with my VS 2008 install)
Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SDK 1.1

after this the StoryBoard Designer installation worked fine

Would recommend to add Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SDK 1.1 to the prerequisites.

I agree I thought this ran inside Visual Studio 2008 allowing you to create Story boards of your application and share them with team members, I thought this would be a different product type, however integrated with VS. Nice to see you can do things in Isolation I just downloaded the Isolation SDK my self.

Would there be a lot of work to integrate this into VS and make it run as at the project level? If so it would be a fun side project to teach me how to use the Extensibility package.

I am able to compile the storyBoard project and setup project first time successfully.
As soon as i say "Run Custom Tool" for any text template file (Files.tt) of set up project, i got deploy processor error.(see detail error at the last of this post)

*What is to be done to resolve this error?

*Is it possible to get step by step documentation of this project or some video which describe how to create and deply Isoloated Shell application?

Any sort of help regarding the Isoloated Shell deoplyment will be very useful for me.

Greetings,
I keep getting this error on install and trying to run the application. I installed the Visual Studio 2008 Shell Isolated Mode Redistributable package before the application. I even tried installing the Visual Studio 2008 Shell (Integrated). didn't help. I also copied the cab files to the install directory of the application.

I downloaded the source code and rebuilt it. When I run the application I don't see any project templates so it is not possible to create new projects. I did set the templates location to

StoryboardDesigner\Trunk\Source\Platform\StoryboardPlatform\Templates\Projects
StoryboardDesigner\Trunk\Source\Platform\StoryboardPlatform\Templates\Items

Please help.

I have had the same problem. The problem is the custom build rule for the vsct file. There is a hardcoded path to the Visual Studio 2008 SDK. The SDK should be installed at c:\Program Files. I have changed all pathes in the file and now it seem to work.

Hi,

I am getting the following error when installing the designer:
"Storyboard Designer"
This setup requires the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell Isolated Mode Redistributable package. Please install the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Shell Isolated Mode Redistributable package and run this setup again.

I verified that the redist pkg is installed by inspecting the installation directory contents and in the Control Panel Add and Remove Programs.

Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 90BA-F8DA

A Visual Studio Shell application sample... does that mean that an application like this will always run as a stand-alone application, and never as an integrated tool of Visual Studio (as in Visual Studio 2008, the development environment)?

Because of the domain of the application: being able to model software, I would expect this sort of applciation to be build as a Visual Studio package so that the storyboard could be part of a Visual Studio solution (being able to be checked into source control e.g.)

I would understand that one would use the Visual Studio Shell to build an application, like a video editing application or something where you would be able to reuse concepts like projects, builds, output, errorlist etc.

I agree though, that user stories do not need to apply to software, one could model all sorts of processes with it.

Hi all,

I got the same error message. After installing the full SDK before installing Storyboard Designer, the error no longer occurred. After checking the sources of the Storyboard Designer, I saw that in the project file 'StoryboardDesignerDsl.csproj', there were some references to the following SDK assemblies:

These presumably didn't make it into the msi installer package. So there's some work to do I guess.

Get same error. Using windows vista ultimate and vs 2008 team suite RTM + the isolated shell runtime.

Glad I could be of service. Still it interests me though what's causing the problem in the first place. I think the problem should not exist at all. I'll be surely looking into it, just because it intrigues me and because I think other users should not have to have the same problems. I'll be sure to post my findings here.

I have installed Visual Studio 2008 SDK 1.0, Visual Studio 2008 Shell - integrated mode - Redistributable Package and Visual Studio 2008 Shell - isolated mode - Redistributable Package, and I haven't had problems installing the Storyboard Designer application.

It has been helpful.

Hello,

I had the same problems. But I chose to also install the full fledged SDK for VS2008 and the integrated shell. And after that the install of StoryboardDesigner went as smooth as can be. So there must be some prerequisite that is not correctly listed, but is available when the SDK or the integrated shell version is installed.

Also you have to install Visual Studio 2008 Shell Isolated Mode Redistributable package from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=ACA38719-F449-4937-9BAC-45A9F8A73822&displaylang=en .

I did it also, and even i have Visual Studio 2008 Team System, Designer gives same error.

Is there anybody who can solve ?

I can't compile the project StoryboardDesignerUI:
Error 1 error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Compiling VSCT File"

When I try to open the res file StoryboardDesignerUI.rc I get following error:
error RC2135: file not found StoryboardDesignerUI.cto

Can you please upload the complete source code for the project?

Hello,

I have got an error installing and executing the application.

The error is: "Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application"

I am installing the application in a Windows XP Pro (Spanish version) and I have the lastest .NET Framework (RTM) installed too.
