Just wondering if there's anyway to install the add-in so that it operated in VS2008?

Hard to go back to the manual method after using such a great tool in VS2005!!

OK, I tried and at first it didn't work. Then I realized I hadn't changed my references to point to VS 2008.

Completely agree. VS 2008 support seems like a top priority. Maybe with Rob at MS this we'll get attention from Redmond?

CREATED ISSUE: Visual Studio 2005 Addin install over network

I am having trouble in installing the SubSonic tools where the home path is on a network drive. The error given when I run the .msi is "could not access network location \\servername\dir\\VisualStudio 2005\Addins".

I have found the following previous issue related to my problem.

I'm using VS 2k5 Professional, I've downloaded the current source, took off the source control and the SubSonic Tools does not compile so I can do a manual add of the SubSonic Tools.

Though I have found an issue related to my situation, I would ask / request / beg for some solution to be created or noted.

COMMENTED ISSUE: Cannot generate code when using different TemplateDirectory

I can no longer generate code using the Visual Studio AddIn after I changed my SubSonicService element in my app.config to use a custom template directory.

I was using v2.0 of the tools and I got a error about string.IsNullOrEmpty(string) cannot covert object to string.

I upgraded to 2.0.3 (just now) and the error has changed, now it is giving an error looking for a DLL in my temp folder of my windows profile (C:\Documents and Settings\<myname>\...."

The DLL is called 650ob9pf.dll

I've tried this with unaltered templates copied into my custom template directory and it made no difference.
I am able to generate the DAL from the custom template using the sonic.exe command line tool.
I have tried both relative and absolute paths to the template directory and it made no difference.
I am able to generate the DAL using the AddIn when I remove the templateDirectory attribute.

The tool does not appear in add-in manager when the 'My Documents' folder is moved to a custom location.

Workaround:
1. Locate SubSonicAddIn.AddIn in your custom location of "My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Addins".
2. Copy it.
3. Locate or create the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Addins".
4. Paste it

|DataDirectory| is parsed as the install directory for subsonic tools, not the correct directory in the project. NG.

I get an error: ORA-00911: invalid character when I try to Subsonic-->Generate from Selection.
When I try to Subsonic-->Generate Multiple Files I get "Could not load type'SubSonic.CodeGenerator.ParseUtiliy from assembly 'SubSonic, Version=2.0.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicToken=eadb47849839a332'.
Maybe this has something to do with the Oracle-SchemaName-error I mentioned and entered also as an Issue to SubSonic today.

Is there a way to generate each provider into it's own "single file?"

Meaning: I have 3 providers prov1, prov2, prov3.

I want to generate just one subsonic file for each provider: prov1.cs, prov2.cs, prov3.cs.

The issue we ran into is that we ran out of memory when running the Generate Single File.

The intaller fails with the error code 2869 and no details on Windows Vista with VS2005 SP1. From what I can tell, this is a Windows Installer error code. You can also just create a .bat file with one line: start [path_to_msi]
Right click and "Run as Administrator". All set, works like a charm.

Example line in the bat file: start c:\users\bozo\downloads\SubSonicToolsSetup.msi
