March 24, 2008: Pre-release available with important bug fixes!
This release addresses some important bugs in the tool, the most commonly requested one being "The key is not present in the dictionary" when starting a migration, and few other smaller fixes.
NOTE: Please read the Setup Guide for installation instructions for this release. Many customers have used this tool, some with success, and we've also discovered a number of bugs on the Version Control migration side. Work Item migration has worked smoothly for most customers, except for those attempting to move very large numbers of work items (greater than 5,000 work items). The tool has only been tested successfully on Team Projects containing up to about 5,000 work items.
On the Version Control side, there is a lot of work to do pertaining to migrating Team Projects with more complex Branch, Merge, and Rename scenarios. We are working on a larger release, and are roughly targeting the early summer 2008 timeframe for that release.
If you do plan to use the tool in it's current state, it is HIGHLY recommended that you perform a dry-run migration of your repository into a test Team Project (this can be on a virtual server). This will allow you to identify any migration issues before impacting any production servers.
If you are unsure whether or not this is the right tool for your purposes, please read the Recommended Scenarios description
here.
