This is the first release of The Forecast Exchange and most of the features are necessary requirements and the absolute minimum for its use. It should be in production from August 24th 2008.

Necessary main features

Administrators can create, activate and end predictions.
Users can buy and sell (even partially).
Calculations for who wins the basic competition are in place.
Help texts are available for all topics.
Portfolio overview, player overview, prediction information.

Bonus additions

RSS feed.
News archive, with both manually and automatically created news.
About page (but of course).

UPDATED RELEASE: Release 0.2

This is the second release of The Forecast Exchange. It will necessary hold some bug fixes from version 0.1 (those discovered before this release). The list of new features have not been decided upon yet and might change at least untill we release version 0.1. Expected release date is probably in 2009 somewhen.

Project Description

The Forecast Exchange (TFE) is a web application where users can buy and sell stocks on statements to forecast the viability of the statements. Release 0.1 is now planned for August 24th 2008.

Installation

TFE is released as a MSI setup file. Run this file to install TFE on your web server. It can be un-installed from Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.

System requirements

TFE is developed for the .NET Framework version 2.0. It's hosted in IIS, and uses an Access database to store data. In addition it requires the Microsoft Ajax Extensions (http://www.asp.net/ajax/) to be installed on the server.

User documentation

Helpful instructions are embedded in the TFE web site itself.

Source code

If you download the code you will see that we have created two Visual Studio solutions:

theforecast.sln for development and testing (located in the theforecast folder)
Forecast.Setup.sln for creation of the release/setup file (located in the theforecast/Forecast.Setup folder)
