Project Description
VMukti (formerly known as 1videoConference) from VMukti Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is a WPF/WCF Unified Social Community engine.

VMukti is multi-point unified communications, collaboration and conferencing social community platform with built-in support for access to platform features through

a) personalized, mashable web-interface
b) widget for 3rd party sites
c) desktops
d) PSTN
e) mobile and
f) IP phones.

Its core features include

- audio,
- video,
- chat,
- file search,
- whiteboard,
- file-sharing,
- presentation,
- remote monitoring,
- controlling,
- sharing,
- CRM and
- reports,
all at use very low bandwidth / CPU usage.

As on date there is a huge dearth of social community engines that offer good quality unified communications with multipoint conferencing and social collaboration plug-ins for 3rd party websites, neither are there products that converge the power of Web, P2P and Telecom – enabling web, phone, mobile or IP phone users to collaborate. VMukti scores over USE-AS-IS systems that are non-customizable and non-scalable by providing P2P modular customizable platforms to clients. It is proud to promote the emergent open source culture. VMukti also tides over the problem of High costs owing to large server / bandwidth requirements as well as low quality output of collaboration platforms.

VMukti is a much awaited market-first unified communication server platform that combines the power of Web, P2P and Telecom which in turn enables web, phone, mobile or IP phone users to collaborate. The fact that it receives more than 2 commercial queries, 200 server downloads, and 2 partnership queries daily with 55,000 platform downloads and 45 investor queries till date at zero marketing expense demonstrates its popularity in today’s marketplace.

The modular, customizable platform and the open source feature are USPs of this high-quality yet low-cost audio-video communications tool. It is supported by IIM Ahmedabad (http://www.ciieindia.org/) and Georgia Entrepreneurs Society (http://www.gesnow.com/) and features among ‘India’s First in Top 10 @ SourceForge’ as well as ‘Most active VOIP Product’ on SourceForge & CodePlex.

I like Criticisms, but, anonymous criticisms do raise suspicion. I always get motivated by critics. It pushes me to do better. But, I request people to also have courtesy to provide their identity when writing about VMukti, otherwise we would be forced to delete the post.

The project is on fast pace, it is one of the most active projects on the SourceForge. We have a lot of things to do. I need to get whatever short-term goals for the product I have converted into reality for the better good of the community at large. And with limitation of resources we might be unable to meet expectations fully sometimes. But, one thing I can assure you that we will stick to our commitment and dedication. We intend to build a product that helps bridge digital divide of the world.

We are putting sleepless efforts here for a cause. I seek your support and motivation along the way...all along.

Thanks for the excellent support so far.

Respectfully
Hardik

Any suggestions on how P2P SIP can be useful for VMukti?

Thanks
Hardik

Guys

I know many of you don't like 50mb download of .NET 3.0 runtime and there are others who want the product to run on Mac and Linux. Good news. We are building silverlight modules for the VMukti that will enable both. Hope to achieve this major breakthrough by the next release.

Thanks
Hardik

Looking for somebody to review the database designs for the highly ambitious next release of the product.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Hardik

I have launched VMukti website with keeping single goal in mind: "How I can cater to VMukti users better?"

- I am looking for suggestions:

1 Should I put installation doc in, or its location is easily known? If yes, where?

2 Should I create FAQ section? Where?

3 How does Wiki seem? Usable?

Your feedback is very valuable.

Thanks
Hardik

Nice project. Video Conferencing using P2P is something new.
But,.how many people can participate in a meeting at a time ?? AdobeAcrobatConnect says , it can handle 2500 ( :O).

Thanks for the compliments...Theoretically VMukti can support 10,000 as there's no load on the server :) but, we need somebody to test it and give us feedbacks on max users. Thanks Hardik

" Theoretically VMukti can support 10,000 ... " -- thats great !!!
Isn't there any software, rather ,a Simulator which can detect the Max.Load of an application
when used on web ( just like in real application ), under normal conditions and give a Standardized rating to it ??
If not, you got a new topic in your list for your next project :)

hardiksa wrote  May 23 2007 at 9:33 AM
