Easy image upload and sizing would be extremely useful. Right now images have to be uploaded to a library, the url copied and then pasted into the address field of the Insert Image window.
Support of browsers other than Internet Explorer for editing posts would also be great.

Maybe I can be of some assistance with image editing and also editing capabilities for non-IE browsers. I've already been experimenting with it. Leave a comment or contact me at boris-at-b4contact-dot-com. What I'm really missing in SharePoint is the ability to embed flash video objects into posts. This would be a major enhancement, since the HTML for the <object> gets filtered out.

I've been experimenting with the editing also. A more flexible editor would be nice, but it's not too hard t put togther a workaround - http://www.tqcblog.com/archive/2007/09/23/adding-embedded-video-to-a-sharepoint-blog.aspx

It would also be nice if this feature would include that ability to upload attachments (unlike MOSS2007 that says it can but can't).

This looks great. How can I apply this to an existing blog, but have it use the existing master page?

donalconlon Mar 6 2008 at 3:54 AM
Jusst tried posting from Windows Live Writer. It says "the blog is configured to allow only one category".

It would be helpful if the comment entry was applied to the mobile view also, to ensure the same comment entry experience for users. Is there any plan for this in the future?

I have encountered Exception occurred. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020009 (DISP_E_EXCEPTION)) after trying to activate Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature. the issue came right after i installed and deployed ebe. any fix(es) to this problem?

Excellent addon guys! Loving it.

The comments about editing, you can use a free addon called Telerik RadEdittor for SharePoint (http://www.telerik.com/products/sharepoint/radeditor.aspx), which allows better editing capabilities in browsers other then IE (tested in Windows: IE, FireFox, Opera, Safari... Mac: FireFox, Safari). I am using it for my Publishing Portal, and just enabled it for the lists in the blog... Worked fine.

One thing I found with this EBE, is that i am creating a central blog site which will list all the people with blogs. Under this there will be 20+ people with blog sites. For each of these sites if I make a change to a theme, I need to make the change to ALL of these sites it seems... WOuld have been nice to have 1 central space for the themes and all sites use these themes from this location instead of their own theme section...

Nice work folks. I am having trouble integrating this blog within my overall Master Page - I cannot get my menus and UI to be presented. Is there something I should read or follow somewhere else on this?
Thanks a lot

Can you confirm that this works on WSS 3.0?

Recently I visited a site called http://www.apps4rent.com/index.htm . Actually I was looking forward to my iphone. While search I came accross this site. It provide on-demand Iphone support services, mobile services, dedicate support such as hosted Microsoft (MS) Exchange 2007 for business e-mail, MS SharePoint with Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 for collaboration, Virtual Desktop. And there rates were also in my budget. I found there services too gud. Thanks to google which helped to search such a good deal.
1Gb cost $6 :)

Hey all... just wanted to announce that my previously "internal only corporate blog", has been liberated and made public. It's running on CKS:EBE, with lots of other SP Extension projects (such as ERTE). Also, I have 3 "Making of" screencasts posted there on how it was put together which may be of interest to those looking to use CKS:EBE to create a public blog site that looks nothing like SharePoint. The url is: http://www.thekickboard.com

I have the same question as Jxupi. is there a way to make this blog work on different languages? I use English and Swedish languages. on an English site it works like a charm, but on a Swedish site I get an error message about a missing file, and nothing works. Can this be fixed in an upcoming release, you think? Making CKS:EBE language independent?

Installed and played some with this, but found that it overrides Content Approval Required on the Comments List (We need to have Comments moderated by an approval group). Comments are automatically and immediately approved and published. !! Also found that the product hides the network identity of the commenter, showing only the pen-name they chose to enter, if any. Comments are Created By "System Account", while Posts show Created By the user's name. ???? Do I have some settings wrong somewhere, or is this the way the product was actually designed to operate?

Hi,. I've tried to install, everything seems okay untill I try to activate it in a site, then I get the following error: Value does not fall within the expected range.
Is that because I'm using it in a Dutch WSS site?

tfigueira Jan 6 at 3:45 PM
Hi. Same problem here... When I try to activate I'm getting the error: "Value does not fall within the expected range";
My blog is in portuguese...

Hi !!
This is a great job :) i really like templates.
I've a question about it:
i've deployed it from intranet, and i can see template, but when i'm trying to see it from the interne, the displayed template is the basic one of sharepoint blog.
does anyone know why ??

tfigueria, try to create a blog with english language. the value expecting for english range, so if your site is in portuguese, it doesn't work. i've the same issue on french blog.

best regards :)

Any upcoming support/additions for nested / reply-to comments? Comments are very linear on the Sharepoint blog; we have a strong business need to be able to reply to a comment. Thank you!

There's an enormous amount of spam at that POC/Demo site listed above. How about applying some of that Akismet spam detection or comment moderation?

prash111 Jul 23 at 11:07 PM
this is pretty good overhaul of out of the box look from MOSS. however, the bigegst complaint i get from users is the in ability to simply select an image and upload to sharepoint blog. Is there any web part of third party add on available which can let user edit the blog post and allow to select an image or video and upload it to blog? thanks

ReneHezser Jul 25 at 11:54 AM
Sure. You can use Live Writer or Word 2007 to create or edit posts. Simply drag and drop images into the post. They will be uploaded automatically.
If you prefer to edit posts with the buildin EditForm, you can use my custom field type for uploading images and documents:

Hi,

I have a question about the integration between Live Writer and the CKS:EBE? Everything is communicating fine (I can create and edit posts) however if I open an existing post in Live Writer it doesn't associate any of the categories that were previously set on it?

If I don't select any categories and save the post it doens't overwrite the existing categories. However if i select a category it will overwrite what is in the post with the selected category. I've got not problem with the overwriting its just the fact that it doesn't display what categories already exist on the post?

I think its to do with what has been implemented in the CKS:EBE for the metaweblog api as I use Live Writer to post to my blogengine.net blog using the metaweblog api and everything is synced without any problems?

Are you aware of this or have any advice?

Many thanks!

Has anyone found a solution to ezillmers problem comment (of Dec 2008) ...

"Installed and played some with this, but found that it overrides Content Approval Required on the Comments List (We need to have Comments moderated by an approval group). Comments are automatically and immediately approved and published. !!"

I've found the same thing, and it is a serious problem for my application where moderated comments are essential. Working with WSS3. I tried setting up a new Sharepoint blog site with working moderated comments, then activated CKS:EBE - no problem, except that comments were now approved immediately. :-(
