Introduction
The Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector Installation consists of the following three components installations:
- Installing Project Server 2007 Connector
- Installing Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector – Project Server Component
- Installing Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector Team Foundation Server Component

Installation Scenarios:
The following are installation scenarios supported by Microsoft Project Server 2007 - Connector
Three Box Installations:
- Machine 1: Visual Studio Team Foundation Server
- Machine 2: Team Foundation Explorer
- Machine 3: Microsoft Project Server 2007
- Note: Connector should be installed on Machine 2
Two Box Installations
- Machine 1: Visual Studio Team Foundation Server, Team Explorer
- Machine 2: Microsoft Project Server 2007.
- Note: Connector should be installed on Machine 1
Installing Project Server 2007 Connector
Pre-Requisites:
The following are the pre-requisites for Microsoft Project Server 2007 – Connector
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1
- Internet Information Server (IIS) 6.0
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
- Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Explorer (Client) 2005 SP1
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1
- TFS Service account, which was created during installation of Visual Studio Team Suite. This account should have administrative privileges on the machine hosting Microsoft Project Server 2007 – Connector.
- TFS Service account should be mapped with dbo user, default database as master and it should have sysadmin privileges in SQL Server 2005.
- TFS Service account should also be the member of IIS_WPG and Administrator group on local machine and it should have full permissions in %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files
- Execute the following command in visual studio command prompt
- Installer should run under TFS Service user account
Installation Steps:
Perform the following steps to successfully install the PS-VSTS Connector:
1. Run the Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector.msi. On the Welcome to Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector Installation screen, click Next to continue.
2. On the End User License Agreement screen, read the License Agreement. To accept the terms and conditions, select I accept the terms in license agreement and then click Next.
- Note: You will not be able to proceed with the installation without accepting the terms and conditions on the End User License Agreement screen.

3. On the ReadMe screen, read the Prerequisites and Post installation instructions. Click Next to continue.

4. The Installation Options screen appears. Click Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector Server Installation Component button.

5. The Set up Installation Path and Disk Space Information screen appears. This screen displays the default installation folder in which the connector application will be installed. If the connector application is to be installed in different folder, then click Browse button to select the different destination folder. Click Next.

6. On the Server and Uri Names screen, enter the following information:
- Select the Web site name where you want to install the Connector (By default, the installation continues on Default Web site).
- In the Uri for Project Server PWA textbox, enter the Uri for Project Web Access (PWA) home screen.
- In the Uri for Project Server SSP textbox, enter the Uri for Shared Service Provider on which PWA is installed. Contact administrator of Project Server and VSTS TFS to get the above Uri’s. After entering the above values, click Next.
- Note: If the installation is two box, select Team Foundation server name as connector parent web site

7. On the Service Account Credentials screen, enter the account information (TFS Service account) under which Connector web service will run. This user account should exist in the same domain and it should have administrative privileges on Project Server 2007 server, Visual Studio Team Foundation Server and on the server hosting Project Server 2007 Connector. Click Next.

8. On Database Server screen, enter the following information:
- In the Database Server textbox, enter the name of the Database Server where Connector Database will be installed.
- In the Instance Name textbox, enter the instance name of the Database server. If this value is blank, the Connector Database will get installed on Default Instance. Click Next.

9. The Project Web Access GUID screen automatically populates the project server GUID, if it doesn’t populate, enter the GUID for project web access.
Determine the Project Web Access GUID by performing the following steps:
- Open the SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration page, click the Application Management tab, and then click Create or Configure this farm's shared services.
- Click the SSP site name, for example Shared Services1 (Default). On the Shared Services Administration page, click Project Web Access Sites in the Project Server section.
- For the Project Web Access instance you want, pause the mouse pointer over the URL, for example, http://ServerName/PWA, click the down arrow in the right side of the field, and then click Edit.
- Copy the GUID in the id=GUID URL option for the Edit Project Web Access Site page, and paste the GUID into the Project Web access GUID text box in the installer. For example, an Edit Project Web Access Site page might have the following URL (the port is for the Shared Services Administration site):
http://ServerName:19466/ssp/admin/_layouts/createpwa.aspx?task=Edit&id=44c4ae03-16c2-4618-bf9a-12643006c5be.

10. The Ready to Install screen summarizes the information, based on the selection made on the previous screens. To move to a previous screen and change selections, click Back. Click Install to proceed with the installation.

11. The Installing Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector screen shows the progress of installation of each component.

12. Once Installation is complete, you will see the Thank You for installing the Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector screen. Click Finish to complete the installation.

Installing Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector – Project Server Component
Pre-Requisites:
The following are the pre-requisites for Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector – Project Server component
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1
- Internet Information Server (IIS) 6.0
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0
- Microsoft Project Server 2007

- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1
- TFS Service account, which was created during installation of Visual Studio Team Suite, which should be a domain account. This TFS service account should have administrative privileges on the Project Server and on the machine hosting Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector – Project server component.
- TFS Service account should be part of local machine’s administrator group.
- Installer should run under TFS Service user account
- TFS Service account credentials is also required during un-installation
Installation Steps:
1. Run the Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector.msi.
2. The Welcome to Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector Installation screen appears. Click Next.

6. On Connector Machine Name screen, enter name and port of the machine on which Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector website and web service is installed. Click Next.

7. On Uri for Project Server PWA screen, enter the Uri for Project Web Access (PWA) home screen. Click Next.

8. The Ready to Install screen summarizes the information, based on the selection made in the previous screens. Click Back to navigate to a previous screen or change a selection. Click Install to proceed with the installation.

9. The Installing Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector screen shows the progress of installation of each component.

10. On the Thank you for installing the Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector screen. Click Finish to exit the setup wizard.

Installing Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector – Team Foundation Server Component
Pre-Requisites:
The following are the pre-requisites for Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector – Project Server component
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1
- Internet Information Server (IIS) 6.0
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
- Microsoft Team Foundation Server
The Team Suite installation guide can be downloaded from following location
- Team Foundation Server -> TFSInstall.chm(Install Folder) on your VSTS Installation Media.

- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1
- TFS Service account, which was created during installation of Visual Studio Team Suite. This account should have administrative privileges on the machine hosting Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector – Team Foundation Server component.
- Installer should run under TFSService user account
- TFS Service account credentials is also required during un-installation
Installation Steps:
Perform the following steps to successfully install the Microsoft Project Server 2007 – TF Server Component:
1. Run the Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector.msi.
2. On the Welcome to Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector Installation screen. ClickNext.

6. On Connector website Machine Name and Port screen, enter name and port of the machine on which Microsoft Project Server 2007 Connector website and web service is installed. Click Next.
